Oracle True Plans (Predicates and Adaptive Plans)

Oracle True Plans (Predicates and Adaptive Plans)

Enhance the Oracle explain plan so it contains all the useful data (as in Ignite 6.5).I would like to see functionality similar to what dbms_xplan offers - so predicate information and notes in addition to a better-formatted execution plan.  Cost and cardinality estimates (with an option for pulling actual execution statistics, if available for a plan) would also be most welcome.

Update:  DPA can now see Oracle predicates and adaptive plans. See CLOUD Databases with a side of Availability Groups, Adaptive Plans and Storage

Current customers can download DPA 11.0 from the customer portal, or if you'd like to try it, download it here.

This has been one of mine for a while...  In particular, I'd like to see more than what 6.5 offered.  I would like to see functionality similar to what dbms_xplan offers - so predicate information and notes in addition to a better-formatted execution plan.  Cost and cardinality estimates (with an option for pulling actual execution statistics, if available for a plan) would also be most welcome.

deedsd, Good suggestion.  That sounds like it could be very useful indeed.  Thanks!

Would have to second that. Called support with the same request and was directed to put in my 2C in  here.

Thanks MTUN.

Meant the execution plans of past queries not just the explain plans . Since  that gives actual values after the query ran and what the explain plan was supposed to have . estimated and actual values

Thanks

mngong & deedsd not sure if you would be interested but, I am searching for folks to take a look at some ideas we are thinking about for representing Adaptive Plans in DPA. If you are interested you can comment here or send me an email at katie.cole@solarwinds.com

We would jump on a 20 to 30 minute call where I could show what we are thinking and get your feedback. You will also get 2,000 thwack points
