Allow for control over the scale of the y-axis in reports

Allow for control over the scale of the y-axis in reports

Unless I am missing a feature somewhere, the y-axis always auto-scales in reports.  This makes it difficult to compare graphs side-by-side and quickly show differences.  We find we always have to spend time explaining the difference in scale, so the height of the bar is not directly comparable.  Ideally, we would be able to specify both a unit (hours, days, etc) and a max value, but even just specifying the unit would be helpful.

Thanks Chris.  This is also plus 1'd in our internal tracking as well

Another  example is the Signal Waits Percent chart on the Resources | CPU page. When the highest data point is 25%, displaying the Y-axis scale as 0 - 100% wastes 75% of the chart area on empty space. This chart is not auto-scaling, it has a fixed scale. It would be nice to be able to choose between Auto, Default, and Manual.

I would like to see an option in charts to adjust the scale and increment at which measurements are displayed.  When looking at trend charts for a database the data is displayed in seconds, minutes, hours, etc.  When comparing different time intervals it would be nice if the results could be displayed in a uniform scale.

In custom graphs with a single large outlaying data point the auto-scaling causes data points that may be relevant to not be visible on the chart. Manually setting the y-axis would be helpful, or auto-scaling options (scale to mean, scale to median, etc)

This issue certainly seems to be very relevant...I posted something last month, but have not received any viable solutions...I am working with support, but has anyone figured out a good way to control scaling?

Any updates on this topic?  Percent reports where you have all your lines under 10% waste 90% of the chart space and makes it difficult to see the data.  I don't know of any other similar products that don't already allow either manually configuring the Y axis or auto scale the Y axis. I've spent hours trying to figure out how to set this in Solarwinds because I just couldn't believe the product doesn't already support this....

The way I ran into this issue is with interface bandwidth graphs. I run automated bandwidth (average bps) reports weekly but the graphs NPM creates use completely random values on the y-axis so it makes it very difficult to read. I can run the report manually from the dashboard and its exactly what I want, but just cannot recreate that with a custom report. I actually just worked with support on this and they basically pointed me to this thread and said its a feature request and not an issue they can necessarily fix. Sounds like I have to wait for this to get upvoted enough, but in the mean time if anyone has any suggestions on how to have the y-axis essentially show whole numbers that make sense would be appreciated, but from what I have read so far sounds like its not possible. Just my two cents. Thanks

I still can't believe this is missing in Solarwinds.  How does a tool like this so dependent upon graphs not have auto scaling or custom Y axis scale units?  Come on Solarwinds, anyone who uses the software immediately sees this as a problem.  We actually spent a long time trying to find out how to change the Y axis because we couldn't believe the software didn't support it!

Add my vote.  I'm coming from open source where axis scale can be any value I like.  I can't believe it's not an option either.
