Add DPA support for PostgreSQL

Add DPA support for PostgreSQL

That would be nice in a future product version as PostreSQL is increasingly popular and useful, including feature and performance-wise.

Title should be Add vs Ad.

There were some comments for PostgreSQL on the MySQL site.

Thanks for pointing that out.  We'll dig them out when we're tallying votes.  🙂

Just noticed that there are two of these feature requests.

Level 10

For our environment, this would be a great feature!

We currently use DPA extensively in our Oracle environment and are considering adding Postgres to our portfolio.  This would be a natural fit as developers are already familiar with the DPA paradigm.

Level 10

That's exactly what we are transitioning too also!

Yeah we have more PostgreSQL coming into fold especially flavors like GreenPlum. Our development teams like what they get in DPA and would like to see more additions.

Any thoughts as to whether this is under consideration?

PostgreSQL has become one of the standard DB service we propose for all new projects here. It is to become the DB workhorse, pushing Oracle out (or cornering Oracle in some niche it's hard to dislodge it from e.g. out Exadata clusters).

We don't need/want to implement S.A.M. just to monitor PG servers.

Our technical staffs, our IT project managers & Application Managers are used to DPA and it has now become the 'Rosette stone' enabling those 3 populations to discuss issues on a common ground.

I see the lack of PG support in DPA as a hindrance.

Solarwinds, It's time to move in and fill the gap. If Oracle keeps losing fights to PG and other DB, you have to persuade your customers to keep using DPA rather than some other emerging tools.

Well said.  I can't claim that Postgres has become the DB workhorse here; however, it has become a standard DB service now and our ability to see DPA as a strategic part of our toolset will be partially determined by its breadth of platform coverage.  Besides, there isn't a tool on the market today that can do the job as well as DPA could so let's see it, guys!
