Errors in SQL Server Error Log Alerts (for recent versions of SQL?)

I created a SQL Server Error Log Alert to find the word 'Fail' in the error logs.  Mostly this alerts me to backup failures and login failures.  Works well for my SQL 2005 thru 2008 R2 servers.  For most or all of our SQL 2012 and SQL 2014 servers this alert is Broken, we get the following error - Error executing extended stored procedure: Invalid Parameter Type.  We use DPA version 9.0.147.  How do I make this work for my more modern SQL versions?
