It was snippy autumn morning. I was engaged in traditional Thanksgiving Football at our local football field when the ring which brought forth impending doom went off. As a member of our Digital Operations Team, on holidays I would cover all Emergencyhelp desk calls. A senior member of the interior design team had called into the hotline and selected the emergency option. She was beside herself. Her laptop was displaying a blue screen. to which she referred to as a frozen window. She could not boot it down, She had let it die overnight and the screen came back, she could not restart the device, and it was imperative that she look at her web layout she was designing. She requested that I get a new laptop to here asap. She literally expected it the same day. I had attempted to reach our procurement team for about an hour. Of course, it's Thanksgiving I am not going to reach anyone. I tried to walk her through some step for remediation, but of course, she was not very tech savvy. Finally, I asked her to hold the power button down until the laptop turned off. after 30 seconds I asked her to power it back on and miraculously, the laptop began working again! Once it was back she gave me a thank you and said, well I guess I can look at this tomorrow... I was able to return back to the game just in time to go home.
