THWACK Monthly Mission - November 2020

For many of us, November marks the start of the time of year filled with celebrations. For the THWACK® community, though, it’s an extra-special month because we welcome one of the most joyous of occurrences: THWACKcamp™! For 9 years, members of THWACK—along with the wider world of monitoring mavens and IT professionals—have come together for two days of learning, sharing, and virtual camaraderie.

It’s only fitting for this November Monthly Mission to be all about THWACKcamp. Every day this month, you’ll be quizzed on your knowledge of THWACKcamp past and present. Between now and the big event (Nov 12 – 13; register now!) we’ll see how much you know about THWACKcamp in general and what you remember from previous years. But halfway through the month, we’ll switch it up and see how well you paid attention THIS year, with questions highlighting conversations from the best THWACKcamp yet.

If you’re new to the SolarWinds® and THWACKcamp family or you simply don’t like tests, quizzes, or brainteasers, we want to ease your concerns. Every question comes with a hint to point you in the right direction. And of course, you can always ask the incredible THWACK community for help!

We’re excited to see everyone participate in the penultimate THWACK mission for 2020, to read your comments and feedback each day, and—of course—to see you at the big event itself.

NOVEMBER MISSION

Use the mission’s resources to complete the tasks and answer the questions for a chance to win!

Correctly answer each question during the week and you'll be entered for a chance to win the weekly prize.

Correctly answer all 20 questions over the course of the month and you'll be entered for a chance to win the grand prize.

150 points are being awarded for each correctly answered question. There are 20 questions, which means you can earn a maximum of 3,000 points for this mission.

Kevin gave the answer right up front in the video. Just watch the video, and you will have your answer within a few seconds. I think the hint said to watch the video, not just read the title of the video.

I do agree if the question was "How many questions are monitoring engineers REALLY asked?" that'd be good wording.

No 'watch the video' hint that I can see. And I did watch it and yes, they said 5 but then 4 but then they also said "leads to many". Personally I'll take the do over, which I didn't ask for, and go with the wrong answer to be right 🙂

My initial post was purely to help/warn others nit to fall into the trap.

Hi @yumdarling, day 9 question is still confusing and I got it wrong - even though I think I'm right....

Maybe a statement to say that the "Welcome Remarks" is not a session?

I think these 2 red X are not correct. I got both answers correctly, they are so easy.

For Day 9, I went through the other information on the Camp page and found the answer.

Nov 26 is weird. It totally depends on the tomato or is it the potato? Or maybe just the developer. I've never heard a consistent answer from anyone to say it's authoritative. I'd like to see a citation, so I guess I'm going hunting for one on da interwebz to see if there really is one. App-ee, or eh-pee-eye spelled out. I've heard both for well over a decade with no counters.

@ramaiya2 - no question today! Missions are four weeks long and this one ran from 11/2 - 11/29. Generally speaking, missions launch the first Monday of every month, so December's mission will start on Mon, 12/7!

I was the winner for the November Week 3 drawing, but have yet to receive any email communications from Solarwinds. The rules state that I should have received an email within 7 days of the drawing.
