THWACK Monthly Mission - November 2019

You lean back in your chair and close your eyes, imagining a clear blue sea, dazzling white sand, and endless palm trees. Next to you, there’s a small table with a slushy drink inside of an umbrella-topped pineapple. You can almost feel the soft breeze wafting against the back of your neck. Welcome to Help Desk Paradise.

Here, service requests automatically turn into alerts or tickets. Ticket status, customer satisfaction, and tech performance metrics are all in one place, up-to-date, and organized. And the best part is, no matter where you are or where your end users are, your integrated help desk makes resolving tickets a (tropical) breeze.

SolarWinds can deliver you to Help Desk Paradise. On-premises or in the cloud, it’s your deployment choice. Both options have features and functionality to simplify handling help desk requests. Plus, with the seamless integration of remote support software, both solutions will have you enjoying paradise without ever leaving your desk.

If you accept this mission, you’ll compare and contrast the two options, and learn more about which help desk makes sense for you.

Choose a ticket to your destination. Whether you go cloud-based or stay on-premises, with these options, you’re on your way to Help Desk Paradise.

Start your mission.

It looks a lot more complicated than it really is. If you use the second hint from yum, and use ctrl-F, you'll get there.

Level 11

The hint is still inaccurate. For one, is a knowledge base the same as a native knowledge base?

Then the quesiton asks: Incident, problem, and change management modules

Only one is listed explicitly. What is an incident? What is a problem? What is IT Ticketing? Does I+P=T?

The wording is unclear and confusing. I have never seen this product before and these answers make no sense in the context of the information provided.

knucklebusted, think ITSM.  You have incident, problem, and change management as parts of ITSM.  At the top of the hint page it speaks of ITSM.

That should help with that.  Look for the items that don't have checkmarks in both columns and eliminate them from your checked answers.

Level 12

I agree with knucklebusted, this is a poorly worded question and a bad hint.

Level 11

But I live in real-ville. If that is what it was supposed to say, then say that. Period. I can be educated but not in this way. We are technical people. Precision counts A LOT!

I don't do nuance or esoteric very well. I wouldn't configure a port in a switch with VLAN 10? or VLAN 1?0 because they are pretty close. I wouldn't write a rule in a firewall to block port 22 or maybe port 23, they are pretty close, right?

Level 12

Looking back at the answers I choose for today's question I realize that I was stressing one option too much and then was not careful with the other options. I eliminated one option the first time I looked at the question. I went to research one of the other options I wasn't sure of and when I came back to answer the question I selected the one I eliminated and submitted it.

Level 10

I agree with knucklebusted, this is a poorly worded question and a bad hint. Help me out, I am saving up for a jacket and it is getting cold.

Level 12

I answered today's question got it right.  I am going to go lay down in the fetal position and let my head stop spinning.

The one time you need to read into the question but been trained not to read into anything is hard to change from the norm.

I feel sorry for all the undo stress today's question has caused.  Hope we all get ready for it to be 5 o'clock somewhere and be ready for the weekend.

Level 11

Today's question was easy. I like when the questions are this easy.

Level 7

This is the only one I got wrong as well - hint was innacurate 😕

Level 8

Damn me for not reading the comments before answering the question today

Level 13

I missed it too.  One of the options I selected is listed on both the WHD and Service Desk feature guide that were offered by others as additional hints, but apparently I missed the question because I selected it. I think this was a poor question and hint. yumdarling I'm trying to understand why I missed it because the additional answer I selected is found in both the WHD and Service Desk features listings.

Level 11

After your failure, bharris, that told me which one was screwed up and I did get it right through no help from the actual hint. I believe the hint was actually a psyops project to see what kind of mayhem they could stir up.

This was a failed question on more than one level.

bharris Feel free to DM me with any questions or if you want to chat about the result you got.

Level 10

I am in Change Management, so it did help but alas, I got it wrong too.

-Failure is a teacher

Level 9

Also should have read the comments before answering. Even trying to compare the two side by side its rather confusing. Also not sure what the correct answer even is?

Level 8

Well I sweated that one out. I read all of the doom and gloom from the comments and spent way too much time second guessing on this question today...but I finally click submit and got it right after all. It was if the information was built-in too.

Level 10

jfaldmo            I did the same.... Oops. Oh well. I own my mistake.

Level 12

For the November 14th question the video does not match the associated verbal instructions.  The "Ticket Details" tab is clearly highlighted, yet the instructions read out by the voice state "click on the Asset Info" tab.

Level 12

I think Yum threw us a softball after Fridays fun!

Level 9

I had to guess without a hint to go by.

So what did y'all do to get on the blocklist?

result.png

Not sure why the blog is being blocked by your firewall...works just fine for me.  Do you work for DoD or some such organization?  I know they are very strict on their whitelists.

As for your guess...

Image result for last crusade you have chosen wisely

...although it was a relatively soft lob today, huh yumdarling? 😉

I suspect that your company subscribes to a list of domains to block for whatever criteria is designated by your company.

I see that a lot with McAffee.  Some of the blocking criteria is generic and quite broad in scope.  It took a while for me to get a vendors support site white listed a while back since it was flagged as remote storage/personal files.  Go figure.

Level 9

I worked for a bank in the past and we blocked the blog category.  There can be a lot of content that is not safe for work.  Accurate Internet filtering for all people in a organization is tough.  Even the best web filter products require a tremendous amount of overhead.  Classifications for sites are frequently incorrect and people need access quickly.  Fortunately, most of us have mobile devices and can work around the issues.

Level 11

Solarwinds doesn't sell a product in the web filtering space but we use Zscaler and it has been a remarkable breath of fresh air compared to our previous Websense and our evaluation of IronPort (or whatever Cisco calls it now) as well as Blue Coat.

I go days without doing anything with Zscaler. Websense was an every day sometimes a few tickets a day issue.

Level 12

yumdarling Week 3 Q12 - without giving away the entire answer, I selected the 2 correct options (let's say X and Y)  only to get a Big Red X saying "No, we wanted X and Y".

Could you check on that please?

Yeah, same here. I'm assuming I chose the same answers as @gcp - the text that came up at the end was the two answers I chose

Level 10

Same here - please correct....

Level 9

For today's hint, did some digging and this is the link without registering to download in case you don't want to be forced to do so like me

Level 9

Today's question needs an update, i answered correctly and got a big RED X

Level 12

yeah i got a big red x

Level 9

I got the same.

Level 9

???? I selected the right answers but got a red cross????

MVP
MVP

And me

Level 8

Ditto

MVP
MVP

I think I'll wait then

Level 11

Once again correct answer - big red X???!!

Level 10

Hello,

I think I choose the correct answers today, but still got it wrong>>>

Level 10

Same for me, checked the first two options. Should have read the comments and waited. Thanks for looking into this.

Level 9

Looks like I selected the two correct answers and it marked me as wrong anyway!

Level 14

I'll add my name to the list of "got it right but counted as wrong" peoples.

Level 10

i got it right too and it says i got it wrong

Level 8

I also selected the correct two answers and got it marked wrong.

Level 9

Same thing!

Level 7

Right answer, wrong X

Level 9

I also selected the first two options and had the question marked wrong...

Level 7

Ditto. Selected the two right answers and said I got it wrong....Sigh

Level 10

The question is NOT broken.  You all need to re-read ALL of the answers.

Level 9

I'm not too big on being forced to give out my info either.

I found the answers here: What’s The Difference Between Single Tenant and Multi-Tenant:? – BMC Blogs
