THWACK Monthly Mission - November 2019

1910_thwack_NovemberMission_640x200_NoCTA.png

You lean back in your chair and close your eyes, imagining a clear blue sea, dazzling white sand, and endless palm trees. Next to you, there’s a small table with a slushy drink inside of an umbrella-topped pineapple. You can almost feel the soft breeze wafting against the back of your neck. Welcome to Help Desk Paradise.

Here, service requests automatically turn into alerts or tickets. Ticket status, customer satisfaction, and tech performance metrics are all in one place, up-to-date, and organized. And the best part is, no matter where you are or where your end users are, your integrated help desk makes resolving tickets a (tropical) breeze.

SolarWinds can deliver you to Help Desk Paradise. On-premises or in the cloud, it’s your deployment choice. Both options have features and functionality to simplify handling help desk requests. Plus, with the seamless integration of remote support software, both solutions will have you enjoying paradise without ever leaving your desk.

If you accept this mission, you’ll compare and contrast the two options, and learn more about which help desk makes sense for you.

Choose a ticket to your destination. Whether you go cloud-based or stay on-premises, with these options, you’re on your way to Help Desk Paradise.

Start your mission.

I like "C" but perhaps it should be updated?

Level 10

yumdarling

Can you please reset today thwack question "C" option was not properly mentioned ?

pastedImage_0.png

Level 9

I'm wondering why you chose the "New Incorrect Answer" option?

I don't think that is a valid reason for a question reset.

Level 9

If you knowingly submit an answer that you fully suspected to be worded wrong, surely that is your own fault and therefore there is no "question reset" request to be considered.

So, based on the title of this month's mission, is anyone else feeling the...wait for it...

EARWORM ALERT!!!

Sadly, we just lost this long-time rocker, the "Money Man", Eddie Money...

Two Tickets To Paradise - YouTube

Thanks, yumdarling, for honoring this rock legend (whether intentional or not)!

Level 12

Seems like a really cool mission! Waiting for the next round of questions.

Our creative team is the genius behind that... and I believe it was somewhat intentional

Level 13

Reading the mission description (which is excellent by the way - I was on the beach in seconds) made me think of the Minions in D2 in their tropical paradise.Minion Beach.png

And I just noticed the person's name on one of the tickets is "Edward Cash"...so, Eddie Money!  Great job, team!!! 😄

Level 10

yumdarling,  The Shortcut says I have already submitted the survey... Can this be reset as I have not submitted my screenshot...

I can certainly look into that

I'll ping you when it's been reset!

Should be good now - let me know if it's still not working

I honestly remain impressed and grateful to the creative minds who continually generate new content and new ways of learning & thinking.

Thank you for all the missions!

Level 13

LOL asheppard970, I had a different earworm in mind...

Almost Paradise (Love Theme from "Footloose") - YouTube

I hadn't read the "two tickets to" portion, and since "Help Desk" has the same number of syllables as "Almost" -- well, you see the association I made. But, yeah, the song association you brought up makes more sense.

Level 10

I did not see the second part of the answer anywhere in the documentation. BOO!

Level 14

Today's hint doesn't seem to be a hint.

Level 9

I'm a bit confused with today's question.  It says, "Two of the reasons customers choose this deployment is the FIPS 140-2 compatibility, better security over the organization's data, and lower total cost of ownership."

I count three things.

1. FIPS 140-2 compatibility

2. Better security over the organization's data

3. Lower total cost of ownership.

The answer is TRUE / FALSE.

Is it asking if any two of those three things are true or false?

Level 8

Well, its definitely not "false'.... I was thinking the same thing (2 != 3)?

Level 12

great

This would appear to be correct.   At least for what it isn't.

ebradford, I like the way your train of thought runs!  I hadn't gone there but yeah, I remember that song...Mike Reno (of "Loverboy" fame) and Ann Wilson (of "Heart"), if I remember correctly.

Speaking of "Footloose", every summer, SiriusXM radio has a channel called "Yacht Rock Radio", which is a whole collection of soft rock classics from the mid-70's to early-80's, and it seems like every other song they play is a Kenny Loggins tune.  Won't spark an alert, here, but now I have that song in my head..."Ev'rybody cut Footloose!!".  Oops, #SorryNotSorry!

Level 9

I concur. I believe the answer is tralse or maybe falue, but I could be wrong.

Waiting for greater clarity.

Not that I have answered yet but the only thing I can think is that parts 1 and 2 are really one thing, and part 3 is another.  Because FIPS 140-2 has to do with encryption, it could be interpreted that the "Better security over the organization's data" could be a comma-spliced modifier of "FIPS 140-2 compatibility" and perhaps there should have been some connector phrase, such as "[...] which gives them [...]".  But, as I mentioned, I haven't stepped into the mine field yet and will refrain from doing so until some greater clarification comes forth.

Level 10

yumdarling It Still says I already submitted...

Level 12

Dont know why but I thought of this quote when I read today's question and jcournoyer@maybury.com comment

This may sound a little West Texan to you, but I like it. When I'm talking about.. when I'm talking about myself, and when he's talking about myself, all of us are talking about me.

Level 8

Hi there,
There is no way to achieve step # 2 of the mission shortcut, using the trial version of web help desk. Look like the trial is limited and did not displayed everything under "Setup" tab.

Level 9

I agree with @asheppard970 .  Just go for it (I did - I felt very brave!).  Are they really going to say that it doesn't lower cost of ownership?

Level 9

Yeah, took the plunge myself and went with the obvious answer, truly easy.

Level 8

When you launch Web Help Desk, there is a Setup option at the top.  Go in there and then Processes/Action Rules.

Level 8

That is the thing, "Processes/Action Rules" do not appear under Setup option at least not in my trial.

Thanks for reply

Level 8

I downloaded and installed the trial version on Monday.  Does your Web Help Desk installation not look similar to this when you launch the application?

pastedImage_0.png

pastedImage_1.png

Level 10

I was reading question 2.  I believe it should be "False" because it asks which two reasons, but it lists three.

Level 11

where is this place ?

Level 9

Setup > Processes

Level 9

I agree that the structure of the question seems to present 3 statements... but with some deductive reasoning it's safe to assume that the FIPS 140-2 and "better security" statements are really one combined statement speaking to the security of the product.  The inclusion of the bolded word below may offer some clarity to the question.

"Two of the reasons customers choose this deployment is the FIPS 140-2 compatibility, offering better security over the organization's data, and lower total cost of ownership."

Level 10

I think question 7 is broken, there was only one option available to select and it said correct answer.

yumdarling

Level 8

Here is mine.

Level 10

According to WHD 12.7.1 Release Notes none of the answers are the correct one, I mean one technically is... and it's really close...

I'll see myself out..

Level 9

I'm not sure today's answer is correct according to the release notes on this page:Documentation for WHD

Would suggest the date is just slightly out.

Level 14

Agreed.  Looks like it is out by a whole day.  Wish I'd looked on here first before searching for it.  The hint doesn't point to anything useful that I could see.

Level 12

Question 4 is taking DLT into mind I guess with the answer?

Level 9

For today's hint, look at the screen shot or bing/duck duck go/google the 12.7.1 release

WHD 12.7.1 Release Notes

Level 11

Today's hint for question 4 was useless. Even clicking on release notes from the hint link doesn't provide any useful information. I could find no date on either page. The links provided by @schneiderstev and @Jfrazier actually have valid information.

Level 9

I have to agree on this one. I did find a date in the screenshot, but that was for the ticket creation date, not the product release date.

Level 9

I also found that frustrating.  Clicking the "Release notes" link just takes you to the documentation search page, where you have to manually enter "Helpdesk 12.7.1 Release Notes" into the box yourself.  Surely in 2019, we have the means to link directly to a document.

Were you able to find the right answer?

If you look at the product in your customer portal for SW, you will find the answer.

Level 9

I was REALLY overthinking today's question. I thought the LAST release meant the one before the current one  ... Fortunately, that date didn't align with any of the proffered answers.
