I got today's wrong, but I'm confused, this link says MariaDB, Oracle, and MySQL are all supported ...

Database Management Software | SolarWinds

Level 10

Only what's in the hint folks.

Level 13

In yesterday's Hint, MariaDB, Oracle and MySQL were all listed as supported databases. However, the title of that document is "Database Performance Analyzer Cross-platform performance monitoring and management for cloud and on-premises". The article is not specifically about databases supported on Azure. It seems that DPA supports MariaDB in on-premises deployments, but not in Azure perhaps (This is speculation on my part)?

The provided hint for today doesn't include anything about DPA with Azure, that I could see (not in the video either).

fakeusername posted a link above. That link has some good information in it, but no where does it indicate any other database in Azure being supported other than Azure Managed SQL and Azure SQL. So, I haven't found a definitive answer to today's question yet.

The answer can't be no boxes checked, can it?

I'm not sure why you didn't just use the hint link that was provided. It had the correct answer in there.

Level 9

First red for me, not enough coffee in my system!

Did the usual search, read and process of elimination and the wording of one answers swayed me towards the wrong option.

Not my week this time, hopefully the rest of you will fair better than I

Level 9

the question says "...two specific implementations of SQL Server in Azure."  There are two on the link provided under "Broad Database Support" that specifically mention Azure, so I went for them.....ebradford

Level 9

corrent

Level 10

This link may be a better hint for today's question...
Database Performance Analyzer

Scroll down to the bottom.

Level 11

This is the link that Bill Wittke provided, but I corrected the URL.  Database instances DPA can monitor

Level 11

OK, is it just me or is putting "except" and "not" in the same sentence an exercise in bad form? Then to provide a hint link that appears to be only tangentially related seems destined for a lot of red "X" today.

Level 13

Thank you danielsayer. I appreciate the input. I did see this in the hint link:

pastedImage_0.png

To me that doesn't specify the those databases are on Azure. And you said, "specifically mention Azure" -- so I was wondering where the hint specifically mentions Azure. Then you opened my eyes, and I saw what my narrow tunnel vision did not see last week:

pastedImage_1.png

So, yes, there it is. Wow... sometimes I would just cannot see some things right in front of my face.

However, I think you must have been looking at a different page, because there is no link for "Broad Database Support" on the page I get to when I click on the hint link (Friday 12/6 question).

Level 10

I was worried about today's answer but I was "Corrent".

Maybe it's me but this one seems pretty straight forward.  I think it is easy to over think.   Look at what the question is asking, the original hint does provide the answer pretty plainly.

Level 12

With a 281 page long hint, I'm glad we have search functionality! I thought the answer was obvious but, after making that mistake in the past, I need to confirm my suspicion before submitting.

Level 9

Ah that makes sense i thought you were talking about the previous days question ebradford !!  I am not sure how I got Friday's correct now!

Level 11

I missed today's question and even after knowing the answer I still don't get it. I learned nothing other than the red X is not my friend. The documentation is not straight forward or helpful to a non-DBA.

Level 9

I used this link for todays question, more straight forward and a better location.

DPA 2019.4 Release Notes

Level 11

Yes, that was a much better link. Too late though for me.

Level 9

The Hint link provided provides the information needed to answer the question. Just scroll to the last section. Voila!

Level 12

is Question 8's hint supposed to go to a demo,  yumdarling?

Level 10

It appears so. Had no problems with it.

Level 12

The post above was made before coffee intake please disregard said comment..................

Level 11

Click on the little double arrows next to SAM and it will take you where you need to go. You do not need to log into the demo.

Keyword for Today is Azure!

Tread carefully people it's slippery

Level 10

Nice additional hint dsimpkins

Good Luck, everyone.

OH NO I MISSED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH   and i knew it said Azure.  SO easy but yet so tired......

Level 13

Dang it.  Totally missed that it was Azure specific.  Argggh.  Should have read the posts prior to answering this morning.

Level 10

It busted me as well... I didn't fully read the question. Dang it! First missed question in quite a few months.

Level 9

Another ridiculously annoying trick question today.  Are these mind games or product learning?!?!

Level 11

Yes, that fine line between education and aggravation is being crossed way too often more my tastes.

Level 11

I thought today's question was straightforward, and I learned something from it. Just remember to read the question carefully, and you will do fine.

Somehow I didn't fall into that trap today!  It's a miracle!

I'm too early for the poll

pastedImage_1.png

Level 12

Yeah. 'Merica. What are these timezone things?

(It's open - finally! )

Level 14

Answered the poll and left a comment but systems says it is waiting for me to take the poll.  I must be a Thwackaholic as I'm now sweating and shivering with the absense of points.  Between Thanksgiving and Christmas it's a really bad time to be going through Cold Turkey

Update - Now got green check mark and points.  Aaaaannnndddd   Relax.

Pity the staff restaurant are doing a Turkey Curry for lunch.  You really couldn't make it up.

Level 11

Hey, we just moved from Daylight Saving time back to normal time, so it is dark and we are confused. Give us a break.

Level 11

All this talk about turkeys reminds me of a show called WKRP, where in an iconic episode, they threw live turkeys out of a helicopter as a giveaway. Of course the turkeys hit the ground and cars, and there was chaos and pandemonium. It was radio, so they didn't show any of that, they just described it all. The last line of the show was the station manager standing there dazed saying, "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly." Classic.

Level 13

Wild turkeys actually can fly -- the roost in trees at night. The farm-fattened turkeys can not fly however.

Level 9

That was a Classic! ...and we are showing our age too!

Level 12

Well I fell for the template count...  oh well

That is so great. So great.

Level 14

one of my favorite episodes!!!!

Level 9

Anyone have an alternate link for today's hint?

BlockedURL.png

My agency doesn't want me to see this one.

Level 12

No, but if you look to the sunrise you may find inspiration.

Does this help?
pastedImage_0.png

Level 9

Yes, it helps for today's question, but I was actually looking for yesterday's.  I took a stab at yesterday's (12/16) using the latest SAM release notes as a reference and got it right.

MVP

Just tell people what you're missing and they'll help fill you in I'm 100% sure.  As much info as possible helps.

Level 8

yumdarling Today's question was looking at "running VM's".  I thought I chose the number of "running VM's" not the number of hosted VM's
