Level 9

Missions are back!

Can't use SaaS for most of my networks but it's always nice to have options!

I could have sworn I hit the F word today .. and got the question wrong ... perhaps it was just my eyes.... THANKS FOR THE MISSION!!

Level 9

So ready for this 😊

Level 7

When will the store be back online @yumdarling ?

Level 11

I found the answer to day 3 on the hint page after going back and rereading, but I found it a little quicker after clicking  Database Performance Monitor link at the top and then checking the System Performance link.  Not sure if it's just how my brain is working this morning or what.

Level 9

I think I had the same morning, I could not find that answer anywhere for hours. I took a break, went back and was like how did I miss this.

Thanks for the new mission! I'm not familiar with Cowin, but these headphones look nice. One question: what are "protein earpads" anyway?! Can I eat them when I get hangry? 🙂

Level 9

Trying to take the mission shortcut survey, tried in chrome and IE. Last question is to fill out contact information but it has radio buttons instead of a place to actually write in the information. Closed out and waiting for it to be fixed. 🙂 Looking forward to more questions and for the store to come back! Hopefully I'll get in before the good stuff sells out. 🙂

Hmmm, I just checked the mission shortcut (with two different browsers) and the final question doesn't have a text box to submit contact information. Is this just me, @yumdarling ?

That's weird @sturdyerde

Mine looks like this:

Level 12

@yumdarling I answered Monday's question today.  What I selected is what it said.  Can you verify for me please?

@yumdarling I tried again from a different network and it worked this time. It's possible that our corporate firewalls didn't like the way that the content was embedded.

Level 9

Today I had to go deep into the hint: Resources / Quick Start Guide

Level 14

Today's correct answer is not an option to select.  The feature name is clear as day in the hint and it's just not there.

Level 9

@smttysmth02gt I was just about to comment about that. The answer is there, but I feel it's not technically right.

Level 14

@merissal I don't know how that could be...

What is the Database Performance Monitor feature that allows you to see before-and-after performance?

With SolarWinds® Database Performance Monitor (DPM), the CENSORED CORRECT ANSWER feature can help you deploy code with confidence by comparing time ranges. Custom timeframes allow you to see if and how query response changed after a new release.

It's not there..........

Level 9

@smttysmth02gt completely agree. It SHOULD be that answer in my opinion, at least with how the question is worded. I thought I was going crazy, I was like it says feature right there why isn't this the answer. Going by their answer, the question should be something along the lines of, "How does the Data Performance Monitor (DPM) Profiler feature help deploy code with confidence?"

Level 9

Check out the image on that page, it helps to understand which of the answers to select.

Level 16

I didn't see the correct answer but guessed and got it right 🙂

Level 14

Yeah - I got it right too, but it's not "right"...

I also got it right, but it was for sure reading between the lines.

@yumdarling What is the prize for the survey.   It said 50 winners?   What do you win?

Level 9

@jeremymayfield  one of 50 $10 Amazon Giftcards

Thanks @merissal

If I had a small number of Network / I.T. wishes to be granted, one would be for DPA added to my environment to cover all our databases / instances / versions.  Another would be to have my SysAdmins move from Free Nagios to NPM.  And the last would be to have SAM deployed fully in my work environment.

Even a reasonably sized winning Lottery ticket wouldn't cover the bill, and that's unfortunate for us.

Level 9

@yumdarling Today something is wrong. There are no questions to answer:

Level 14

@rschroeder     I feel your pain.  I'm the SysAdmin here.  We currently have free Nagios  😭.  However, after a year of badgering manglement I'm getting SAM, NPM, Patch Manager and IPAM  😍.  Just installed the two physical servers I will be running it on into the server racks and am waiting until we get the Business Continuity testing out of the way  🙄.  Then its install and play.      😀

Level 11

hroesch01 same issue here. Wonder if it is a broken link thing.

Level 14

Can we change it where you vote on a poll, you see the results like the old site?  I was always curious to see where my peers fell on various polls I'd participate in.

@petergwilson  You're my Hero!

Level 12

@yumdarling  Q6 "Select all that apply" ... but you can't 😉

@gcp well, that is definitely not ideal...

I fixed it

Stay safe out there, my friends.

Not seeing the hint today.   Anyone else having issues with this one?

Hint on today's (3/16, which, by the way, is Wolfgang Van Halen's birthday for anyone who cares!) question: don't overthink it and don't stray from the presented path.  The answer(s) is(are) right there in front of you.

And now, folks, something we haven't had in a while...and EARWORM ALERT!!!

Since Wolfie (as he is referred to) plays bass (as do I), I'll go deep into the "Fair Warning" vault for this one:

Even though it was done by Wolfie's predecessor, Michael Anthony (another fine bass player in his own right), I think it is a fitting tribute to the lad.  Happy birthday, WVH!

Fun fact: the Peavey "Wolfgang" model guitar is named for, you guessed it, none other than Wolfie Van Halen.  And, another fun fact: Wolgang Van Halen is named after probably the most famous Wolfgang of all, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  Bet you didn't know that you were going to get a music history lesson today, did you, kids? 😉

Level 12

Is historical data the same as low-granularity data?  Asking for a friend because I am not a DB person by any chance.

On another note:

@asheppard970  I also play the bass, at my church and no way near the player that I should be.  But I do like playing it.

Level 11

Answer to today's question can be found via team efficiency and at the bottom under "Go back in time to diagnose problems"

Level 14

No it doesn't.  It says something that doesn't match any of the answers.  Sorry to be pedantic but that is what we all are after all.

You need to dig a little deeper to get down to the place the answer exists.

Try this link

Level 14

I got the correct answer.  It just isn't where the original poster said it was.

Level 12

@yumdarling Day 9 "select all that apply" - but only single select options 😄

Hey @gcp We're not there yet in the US, 🤣

Community Manager
Community Manager

@gcp thanks for finding that, I fixed it to not say "select all that apply" anymore.

Feel free to honorably mention any of the answers here in the comment .

Level 9

It still states: Which databases do you run in your environment today?

Level 14

We run several and I suspect most people do.  I guess any answer would work.

Level 8

March 19th poll should be a multiple choice selection.  We use 5 different databases.

We're primarily a MS SQL Server shop, but have a growing number of applications that embed MySQL, Mongo, Mari, Redis, etc.

I can't tell if link is bad or if something else is going on but I'm getting time outs today connecting to a few parts of thwack today???

I was able to get into that link without delay.  Here's hoping it works for you soon!
