Thanks, it just popped up the right answer previously. Seeing the correct one now. Man, case of not paying attention, D'oh

today's question was very easy!

Level 10

Unless i'm being  a complete idiot, and please tell me if i am, none of the answers to today's question(question 18) match up the info provided by the hint.

Agreed! I've tried adding them up a few times now and can't quite get to any of the provided answers. Waiting until tomorrow before I commit to an answer on today's question.

Level 8

Having the same issue here, glad it's not my maths

Level 9

I got it wrong, the numbers that tallied up from numbers listed in the hint didn't match the expected answer! Against my own judgement I decided to go on best match.

I did consider going for the specified correct answer before clicking the tallied amount, but this didn't seem to appear in the hint at all? A little misleading... not sure if yumdarling agrees?

Not too worry... been fun irrespective 🙂

Level 10

Yeah i totalled them up manually, with a calculator, went to each of the products pages and counted them that way.. none of them matched up with the answers provided.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll look into a better hint for everyone.

Until then, I'm removing the hint link as I don't want to mislead anyone else.

I'll also go ahead and reset wrong answers.

Level 9

That's very kind, thank you.

I don't envy your task when setting the challenges and questions, the competitions and daily questions makes my day as I'm sure others on here will agree, you don't see other vendors with a great community like this around 🙂

I must be bad at math? - it must depend on how you slice up the pie.

Level 9

graeme.brown I believe there are duplicate products listed in each category. I did the easy math first as well. I haven't gone back yet to do subtraction yet. It's too early in the morning for maths.

Level 9

Where did they come up with their answer?  If you add up the numbers listed under each group it does not come up with their answer.  Then if you remove the products that are duplicated under some of the groups, it comes up with even less.

Level 14

Uhhhhh...............I took the time to actually type them all out.  I didn't end on any of the specific answers we have to choose from, but I was very close to one.  Which was deemed an incorrect answer.  I don't see how though because I literally listed them all out and counted them one by one.......How very disappointing!!!!

Level 8

The same happened to me as well.

Level 10

All, I would dive deeper into the links and count all of the free management tools as well.

Level 12

I went here: IT Management Software & Monitoring Tools | SolarWinds  counted 41, do not see that in the list of answers.

Please remove if this gives away the answer....

Level 14

I did this as well but got it wrong.  It gives you the right answer after you get the big fat ugly red X.

Level 8

I guess I should have waited to answer until this got hashed out (or at least more hints were placed here). Now I have a big red X.

Level 13

I added them up from the main web site and had no problem coming up with the right answer.

Level 10

thinking.jpg

Level 10

Also, this is a bit of a humble brag.

Level 10

pastedImage_0.png

i tried totaling off this and from here

pastedImage_1.png

didn't give anything close to any of the possible answers.

The Free tools, don't forget the free tools.....

Level 11

This is one of those useless questions. Who cares? Do you have a tool that counts your tools for sale? Do you count bundles as separate products? If it is 1 or 1,000, will it make a difference?

Level 10

reset needed plz

Level 12

1 + 1 = 2?

Level 11

In some cases 1+1 = 3

Level 9

The number is always growing...

Level 12

1 + 1 = 10

Level 8

this is what I got too

Level 11

I spent way too much time gathering this information. It serves no purpose since SW lists numbers that don't mean anything and they duplicate products within groups. Then, there is the ipMonitor and ipMonitor Free Edition! Are they two separate products or just a product with a limited little buddy they give away?

Level 9

How binary of you...

Level 9

I still don't see a hint for question 18, I thought you were going to put up a different hint for that question?

Level 14

I'm a bit shocked they didn't reset that one.  I feel like it was a terrible question.

Level 9

So, how many people counted @knucklebusted list or were lazy like me and just pasted it into Excel to do the count for me?  Either way, thanks for doing the leg work.  It was easy to get the correct answer now.

Level 7

Today's question is controversial.

Level 9

The dreaded red X for me.  I double-crossed myself.  The correct answer is the one I thought it should be, but I figured it would be too easy.  I'll wear the red badge with pride this month!

Level 14

Arpnet or internet?

Quotes from the linked page:

It was not called the internet – that name was not coined for another five years.

Nonetheless, this was the first time a message had been sent over a telephone line between two computers. (Hardly the internet)

"Nor was it the World Wide Web – that was created by the British scientist Tim Berners-Lee, now Sir Tim Berners-Lee, at Cern, the Geneva physics laboratory that now houses the Large Hadron Collider, 20 years ago in March."

Please clarify the question.

Please don't think too hard about today's question. The hint states the answer we're looking for early and if you look at the date the article was written, you'll be fine.

We have not reached the threshold for me to consider resetting the question, though I'll keep checking

Level 14

So yesterdays threshold was not reached?

Level 7

The hint was not available this morning when I answered the question.

Level 9

Should have waited for the hint today...

We did not reach reset threshold for yesterday's question...

Level 14

That is amazing.

VS Code. Thanks, knucklebusted!

Level 14

Yeah. There still isn't a hint.

Level 10

Sept 18th hint? yes/no??

After reading comments I don't want to guess if we are past the reset stage.

Internet50 | UCLA Samueli School Of Engineering

I asked my Director of IT if we are going to do anything for the Internet's 50th anniversary next month... an all IT trip to TopGolf, or tickets to a basketball game or such. Nope.

Maybe I'll bring in a cake.

Level 9

yumdarling thank-you for this.  It was fun going down memory lane.

Level 10

Hi yumdarling

When can we except hint for question 18?
