SysAdmin Day 2017—Caption This!

Level 15

Forget planning your summer (or winter, for our friends South of the equator) holiday—it’s time to prepare for System Administrator Appreciation Day 2017! From blasting performance bottlenecks and slashing application downtime to defending against data loss and endlessly having to instruct end-users to “turn it off and on again,” systems administrators are the grease that keep the wheels of modern businesses turning day in and day out.

On that note, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so as one way to help celebrate this year’s holiday, coming up on July 28, we want you to get creative, witty, and downright funny in helping us caption 12 scenes in the context of life as a SysAdmin. It’s a SysAdmin Day “Caption This”!

Use this survey link to share your best SysAdmin captions for the included images by Friday, July 7, and we’ll give you 250 THWACK points

I got to the survey but I didn't see how it captures our Thwack username for the 250 points.

Me neither...

I still don't even see the images i am in Firefox.

Level 9

Sorry, not seeing any images in the survey.

All of the images looks like a white rabbit in a snowstorm in the sun.

I was able to access the survey images from home, but not from work.

Once I captioned them all, there was no place to enter my Thwack user name to receive points/credit.

Nice pictures. Can't wait to see the winning captions.

No place to enter ID for completion though.

Hi guys! Apologies for leaving off the THWACK ID field before. It's added now!

Please comment below if you've already taken it and you will still receive points for participating.

Thanks!

Level 9

I took it yesterday.  Thanks!

Level 10

Took it yesterday, thank you  wabbott

Level 9

Took it this morning (6/27).

Yep, did it earlier this week (yesterday--wow, what a long time ago THAT was!).

Level 15

Do you think that the images were done in a way that the security appliances are blocking it?  something to consider?  wabbott how did you add the images?

Level 15

Hi Jeremy, it's possible that the images are being blocked for security reasons. We had to use an image hosting site to add the images to the survey.

Have you tried Chrome or IE?

It didn't seem to be security blocking the images--at least, not our corporate security solution (Web Sense).  I did try IE, Firefox, and Chrome--none of them provided images, but they also weren't 100% identical in their blankness.

Both IE and Chrome show numbered empty boxes preceded by big spaces:

Firefox shows little space between the empty numbered boxes:

It certainly could be security-related, but it doesn't match past security blocks.

More Challenging than I would have thought. Number 11 is hilarious...and a little scary.

I did. Day 1.

Level 10

How about number 3?  All I can think is "Mommy used to do the bills, didn't she?"

Level 15

Finally, thanks @wabbott for the images here, really good stuff.

it is a great step to appreciate the services of System Administrators because they work very hard to keep the servers secure and data private. Their job description also includes to provide the error-free systems to the employees. They could only be professional and expert in their field only if they study hard during their student's life. Timely submission of their assignments by taking assignment help online would also help them in making them a professional system administrator.

Level 12

That was fun.

Level 9

Totally fun!  You need to have the THWACK staff pick the best of these and have a voting contest!

Absolutely loved doing this.

Level 10

This was fun. When do we get to see everyone's submissions? I agree with doberhol, let's get a voting contest on the best submissions.

Done. Great picture choices wabbott
