SolarWinds User Groups 2020: Pre-registration Available Now!

Community Manager

What's a SWUG?  The short answer is it's an extension of this online community, delivering over 14 hours  of technical, hands-on education for free.  We started this program in 2015 and in 2020, we're back and—literally—bigger  than ever with two full days in cities across the globe. SWUG connects you with  SolarWinds executives, product managers, user experience researchers, technical  advisors, engineers, Head Geeks,  and other end users like you. It's a great place to get the answers to the hard  questions perplexing you, get details from behind the curtain at SolarWinds,  take a pulse to see what other industry professionals are doing, and where  they're going. Our goal is to help you be the best IT pro you can be. But don't  take our word for it. Here's what attendees at recent SWUGs have to say:

As a first-time attendee, I have to say this was my favorite work event I was able to attend this year. As mentioned, it was an event actually dedicated to us, for us.

— Paige Barnes (medleyp812), Chicago SWUG 2019 Attendee

I've been to events like this before only to be bombarded with what I can purchase from either the host or their partners. I got the feeling that the employees representing SolarWinds genuinely care about their customers.

— Ashley Warren (abby.warren), Chicago SWUG 2019 attendee

This was my first SWUG. I found value in the information provided as well as the personal contacts made during the conference. I will definitely plan on attending next year and I also look forward to THWACKcamp.

— Jim Yocum (jpyocum), New York SWUG 2019 attendee

Fantastic conference. Instead of sitting there listening to a marketing presentation like many conferences, the attendees were able to engage SolarWinds employees and address concerns and speak to their own environments.

— Steven Dean (chezbrgrs), Atlanta SWUG 2019 attendee

As my first SWUG, this was an excellent event. I felt overall it was very informative, and really highlighted the amazing user community around the SolarWinds products.

— Benjamin White (bwhite23) Seattle SWUG 2019 attendee

Join us and more than a hundred other IT pros ranging from monitoring engineers, help desk techs, MSPs, DevOps to the "I do it all"-folks in building bridges and tearing down silos. Remember, the goal is to get the information you need so when your workweek’s done, you can enjoy your weekends.  If you would like to be notified as soon as registration is available, please complete the pre-registration form for the SWUG(s) of your choice below. Be sure to watch the SolarWinds User Group space for the most up-to-date information.

All locations and dates are subject to change. Hurry up already, February!!

Level 9

Minneapolis/St Paul pre-reg returns a 404 error!

Level 13

It worked for me and a couple of coworkers.

Level 9

For a Texas based company, why no Texas SWUGs? Bring the SWUG to Texas!

Texas isn't a small place. Where were you thinking?

indeed

If you're in El Paso, you are closer to Phoenix than you are to Austin

No Chicago SWUG Sad day

How far are the Twin Cities from Chi-town?

Level 8

6 Hour drive - Hour and a Half Plane

Level 13

2 of us did that 6 hour drive to get from the Twin Cities to Chicago this year.  It was worth it even with the extra time.

Edit:

I should say the trip was worth it.  Dealing with the bean counters and travel expense forms is a huge headache.  They are questioning everything.

I'm just going to say that the wife and I plan on hitting up Minnesota Renaissance Festival - Minnesota Renaissance Festival when I'm in town for the SWUG.

Level 9

Well, I'm closer to Dallas, but we have approval to travel to Austin, San Antonio or Houston too.

Level 9

Nothing in Canada?

Community Manager
Community Manager

Similar problem as Texas - where in Canada should we go?

Level 9

Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver as options. At least for Canadian's it's less hassle (no passports \ customs and our currency is what it is )

We went to Toronto in April 2018 and it was great.  Speaking of Montreal and Vancouver - would one be preferable to the other?  What can I do in said city when not doing SWUG things?

Level 9

Montreal is like being in Europe and has loads of culture (food, people (everyone speaks French and English quite fluently) and tons of history (going back to the 1500's and by the 1700's was the major city in Canada, Vancouver is like Seattle or Portland (Pacific Ocean, Mountains, food, people, and warm"ish" in the winter. Born and raised in Toronto so biased on that option...

Air Choice One has great service and fairs from ORD to MSP. We use them to fly from local Iowa airport to MSP. Friends introduced us because they fly from the small airport into ORD and then pick up their international flights from there. Very convenient. Currently, round-trip ORD-MSP non-refundable is $291.00 with one stop in Ironwood, Michigan. It is still a 5 hours of flight time, but a bit more relaxing than the drive.

Can confirm. Montreal is legitimate foodie heaven, great downtown.

Houston

Level 10

How much does it cost to attend the event?

MVP
MVP

These events only cost your time to travel/attend.

There is no charge to actually attend the event itself.

Level 10

Thank you!!!

Any plan in India?

Community Manager
Community Manager

Not on the books so far.  As a personal curiosity, India is also large.  If we go to India in the future, where should we go?

Level 8

Surprised NYC is not on the list...

Level 12

Might be the PTSD from everyone having canceled flights at last years NY SWUG .

My clever plan to fly in/out of the regional airport 15 minutes away was foiled, had to drive an hour into the city for my moved flight

Level 9

@KMSigmaHow is COVID-19 affecting the SWUGs this year? I know a lot of companies are cancelling their user events because of the threat. Atlassian just cancelled their annual Summit in Vegas later this month.

@klevans8907 - As of today, we are still planning all of the above events.  Currently, the situation is still developing - sometimes even day-to-day.  Our customers, partners and employees are, and have always been, our top priority.  We will be notifying everyone as quickly as possible if the schedules change.

Level 9

Awesome, thanks! I was just curious.

Level 14

Just go ahead with them.  Consider it a cull of the weakest in our community.  The survivors will just be stronger, unless I don't survive.  In that case I get a nice wooden overcoat and a one way ticket straight down.     😀

Of course this is just in jest although I can't help but feel that the media are blowing this all out of proportion and some people are over-reacting.  The WHO reacon between 290,000 and 650,000 people die of the flu every year.  I guess time will tell and people are just being cautious.

Now off to travel home on a packed London Underground Tube train where I will be exposed to who knows what.  Lucky me.

Level 8

I'm adding a vote for Dallas Texas.

Level 12

I'm voting for Minneapolis!

Not a bad drive from Chicago! 🙂
