Calling All IT Heroes!

Community Manager

We need photos of IT Pros like you for our website - solarwinds.com. We're looking to feature our thwack community members in their real-life work setting—working in the server room, fixing a problem, helping a co-worker, or whatever you do to keep your shop up and running.

Guidelines

  • Ideally, the photos should show your face, be high resolution quality, and include several poses, if possible. We want to show the world what your world looks like and how you save the day.
  • The picture should be a wide horizontal shot with preferably a 16:9 aspect ratio and at least 1200px wide.
  • If you’d like, please include a short comment about yourself, what you were doing while the photo was taken, or how SolarWinds’ products help make your job better.

So, what’s in it for you?

Everyone who submits a photo in the comments below will receive:

  • the "SolarWinds.com Hero" badge for your profile.

If your photo is chosen to be used on SolarWinds.com, you will receive:

  • Your choice of a $75 ThinkGeek or Amazon gift card.
  • Oh - and you'll be front and center on the solarwinds.com homepage!

We’ll contact you by email to let you know if you were chosen and get the info on where to send your gift card.

Our Legal team wants us to remind you to make sure you have permission from your employer to take photos in your office and you’ll need to sign a photo release (we’ll send it to you) if we use your image.  Your company name won’t be used.

Here is are a few examples.  The first two feature some of our MVPs - Kevin Small and Scott Sadlocha.  Please know that we will handle any retouching, effects, etc. Any changes made will be passed by you for your sign off before we add it to our website.

Whats between the monitors on the top picture?

Level 15

Looks like a SW beanie hanging on a stormtrooper in a thwack mug.

That is exactly what that is.

Level 8

AS you can see, I am on the THWACK site in this picture.  And check out my "morale boosting,"  "thumbs up" trophy on top of my monitor.

Hi All SolarWinds Gurus and Newbies,

I have known this product for just over 5 month and during this short period I became absolutely in love with what it is, what it does, customer focused approach of the company, values and constant stream of creative ideas from SolarWinds engineers, from Thwack community members and from myself whilst working with it . I am using SAM and NPM - absolutely in love with both. It is a highly customizable platform and with a bit of knowledge of scripting it is expandable up to infinity.

Just wanted to say Thank You for the fantastic product that JUST WORKS.

Going over the utilization of devices and verify core connectivity. Just an average day at the office. Solarwinds and Thwack are extremely important tools in our office. We monitor about 18 remote office and our HQ 24/7/365. Couldn't live without it now.

Four monitors!

There are two - Dual Video cards (one ATI Radeon HD 3400 and one ATI Radeon HD 3600) in one PC running Server 2003 R2 to access the four monitors.  This provides me quick access to server tools.  This system will be rebuilt on new hardware with Server 2012 in the next few weeks.

These monitors have two inputs (one DVI the other analog VGA) that are front panel selectable.

I have a second computer running Vista with a dual video card connected to the VGA inputs of the left two monitors.  That is why there are two keyboards and mice.  This dual monitor system will also be rebuilt in the next few weeks with Windows 8.1.

This setup comes in really handy when working with support or acting as support.

So I have four monitors....but they act like six.

I had 4 as well, loved it

I feel l limited with my 2 21" monitors at the office.

Level 13

Lol, I'll take a picture of my desk when I get to work tomorrow. It should make y'all feel a little better

Level 15

I think this has devolved into a who has the smallest cube thread and I like it.

Except I just cube hopped and gained enough space for my 3 monitors so I'll loose. Where's that photo I had of the cube I shared with someone…

Level 13

Shared Cube now that sounds horrible

Level 15

I shared a cube with a grump years ago. You know the type. The one who manufactures being offended for everything down to a simple knock-knock joke just to get attention. Horrible is an understatement.

Level 15

You shared a cube with Nina also - small world!

I thought it was Ron B.

Really 3 monitors would work as well...I only use the fourth for playing music.

I shared a cube once about 18 years ago....it did not matter.  We were almost never in the office and very rare if saw each other.

I am surprised that no one mentioned the Tums, Thwack Pack or Netware 3.12 box.

LOL- the Red Box jumped right at me!

He sure does.. check his horns... ha ha
