Are You a True SolarWinds Power User?

Community Manager

How much of a SolarWinds power user are you? While our products are obviously designed for professional IT shops, we’ve heard from some of you who have used the SolarWinds products you’ve come to love at work to solve problems and manage your home networks and systems, too. So, if you’ve ever used a SolarWinds product or free tool outside of work, we’d like to learn a little more about your experience and we invite you to take our very short survey. It shouldn’t take more than a minute or two. And to say thanks, you’ll earn 250 thwack points for completing it!  Points will be added to profiles once the survey closes.

First! Seriously though, I use engineers toolset everywhere

Level 21

The first question which seems to impact everything else that follows is confusing to me?  What do you mean by "in connection to your home computing"?

Level 12

byrona home network and home PC/Servers

Level 21

I guess that kind of makes sense but I guess when I think of a Power User, I am imagining somebody pushing the limits of the product and really utilizing a wide array of it's capabilities; not a guy using for his home systems.  Because of this I still feel like I am missing something on this poll and why a poll about power users would be asking about home use of a set of products that are generally used for medium to large environments?

Level 12

yea was lost as well when i first started taking the poll .. but I assume its to gage maybe something for home networks product wise ?

Level 15

Ha! I wrote the book on SAM.

Level 11

I thought the same thing.. LOL  I was like... Well, i guess I am not a power user.. even though I am doing just about everything I can with it at work and then coming in the next day and discovering odd and unique ways of doing MORE things.  BUT, I suppose as long as I get the points..

The IP Subnet Calculator is invaluable!

I didn't realize that SW was okay with us taking home a copy and installing it on our own devices. Licensing issue, or will it be okay to open a support case when my systems at home do not function as they should...    ?

Level 13

Support will chalk it down as an ID-10-T error

Level 17

Like my machines at home ever need a support case opened.  People call me to open them...

Level 13

Maybe we should use web help desk with our families. “The Plumber says it will cost around $500 to fix the problem” “Alright, make sure you update the ticket”

I can't get my teenage daughters to turn off the lights or clean up their dishes...update a ticket ? ROFLMAO

Level 17

You would update a ticket when the lights get turned off, or the dishes disappear from the sink.... until then the girls just get email notifications for not meeting the SLA!

Level 17

And I forgot to update my ticket last night.

Level 13

Rofl. And each time they leave the room without turning the lights off and with no one else in the room, the ticket gets updated again with an additional occurrence

Level 12

the only reason i dont use SolarWinds at home is because i have a computer. no real need for it.

Level 17

only if those switches are SNMP capable... the light switches, not the one's we had to go get ourselves...if only those switches has counters...

We experienced some caching issues with the weekly digest send today.  Which unfortunately means some users received content from last week's digest.  The issue should be corrected for next week.  Our apologies but this survey has indeed closed.
