Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening THWACKsters!

My name is Sara Clark (SaraClark) and I am SolarWinds’ SCP Program Manager. I was brought on board in June of 2021. Prior to my joining SolarWinds, I worked for 10+ years in exam development/maintenance for an Engineering Technician not-for-profit.

My primary focus with SolarWinds is to update and maintain the existing SCP exams and develop and maintain any future exams. We will slowly make some changes to the formatting and feel of the exams to better reflect current industry best practices, however the SCP exams will still follow SolarWinds products.

I am open to any feedback you may have regarding the existing SCP exams, or anything related to the SCP certification process.

My goal is to utilize the SCP Community Page in THWACK to post updates on our maintenance progress and notify the THWACK community of any SCP related news. I welcome your thoughts on future posts.

I am someone that is looking to obtain an SCP in Diagnostics and Troubleshooting. While I am still working through the material, things feel sort of bodged together and that I am having to use multiple sources. Was there a reason behind not using a more formal "SCP Certification Prep" class or textbook/study guide? It feels more like I am having to jump in with a pre-established environment (hello, my current employer) and adopt a "test in prod" mindset to learn.

The Diagnostics & Troubleshooting exam was recently updated. We also updated the study guide. It includes an exam content outline as well as resources for each area of the exam. These resources reflect those used to document exam questions and training areas from SolarWinds bootcamps.

We are actively working to update all of our SCP exams. As we do, the related study guides will be updated and posted to the SCP program page.

Thank you for the follow-up Sara! One last question: are there any plans in the near future to hold beta exam sessions for SCP exam editions being currently developed? I would be willing to be a test subject.

We are not currently holding BETA testing for the updates. If anything changes, we will post on THWACK and/or the SCP Program page.
