The American Rescue Plan includes $7.17 billion for an Emergency Connectivity Fund Program. This includes funding for eligible schools and libraries to purchase connectivity equipment, including Wi-Fi hotspots, modems, routers, computers, and broadband services. Applications will be accepted for future purchases and even for money already spent. Schools and libraries will certainly apply for funds to connect their students and staff, support remote learning, and close the homework gap. As part of applying, we recommend updating infrastructure modernization plans and preparing to support increased network traffic and users.
