There are multiple ways to mention other content when you are crafting your own THWACK content. The two most common methods are @Mention
and including a link.
THWACK Content (via @Mention
) [Preferred]
Users
To "mention" a user in a thread or reply, type @
and then begin typing their THWACK handle. Once the picker appears, select them from the drop-down list.
Groups (Product, Community, etc.)
You can also reference any Group in THWACK. These can be product groups, community groups, or any other kind of group on THWACK. As before, start typing the name after the @
and select the appropriate group from the Groups list.
Applications (Forums, Blogs, Galleries, etc.)
In a similar fashion, you can mention specific applications on THWACK, like blogs, forums, the content exchanges, or feature requests.
Specific Content in an Application
You can directly reference nearly any content on THWACK directly with the @Mention
function.
Why do we prefer the @Mention?
It provides a quick "peek" at the content you are referencing and provides some other functionality.
Additionally, you can bookmark the item, subscribe to it, send over a like, and other things dependent on the target type, without opening a new tab/window. Long story short: It makes previewing content that much quicker.
Content External to THWACK
Of course, you are welcome to link to any content in your comments and replies but be aware that certain links may flag content for moderation. When possible, we consider it beneficial to all members to include the "name" of the link instead of the bare URL. The THWACK platform automatically tries to truncate long URLs to make them easier to read. Because of this, we prefer naming the links whenever possible.
