The Changing Face of Database Performance Management

Database Administrators (DBAs) are no longer the sole owners of database tuning and optimization. At the same time, hybrid IT and cloud-native applications are changing the face of traditional database design, management, and monitoring. How does an old-school DBA wrap their head around a distributed cloud-based system? What does the System Reliability Engineer (SRE) need to know when asked to handle one of the legacy systems that hasn’t made the leap into the cloud?

This session will discuss the changing roles and responsibilities associated with database performance management, along with how IT practitioners on both sides of the DBA divide can adapt and grow their skills.
