THWACK Monthly Mission - February 2024

Join us as we embark on an IT service management journey where the possibilities are as vast as the universe and time. We’ll show you how SolarWinds Service Desk and more redefines the boundaries of what’s possible in managing your IT environment. This month, as we explore the infinite IT dimensions, you’ll learn how our ITSM products provide comprehensive solutions that seamlessly integrate and synchronize everything, everywhere, and all at once.

  • Quick question:
If the competition is restricted to those living in US, UK, Canada and Germany, why would you send invitations to join in to those living in other countries?  My profile clearly states that I am resident in none of those countries so why did I received the email?  Don't you have the ability to apply filters to fields in the community database before you send your email?  Or didn't occur to you that there might be people living in other places?

  •  , completely understand this question but as some have already mentioned, we aim to encourage education regardless of location. As sad as it makes us, we're caught in between a rock and a hard place here. We have certain restrictions as a business that our team can't bend, as hard as we try to. We hope to one day broaden the shipping options so everyone can share in that experience.

Finally, regarding our database - we can't segment audiences the way you might think. This is a community platform first, never a marketing tool. So when we send messaging, it's to the whole fam, no smaller group messages here. I can understand how this may feel irrelevant to you, but I think many can agree the missions have a lot more to offer than just the prizes. Hope to continue seeing you here!

  • Appreciate the response but ...

If you "can't segment the audiences" and have to send messages "to the whole fam", how come I didn't get an invite to last month's "mission"?

BTW, I got your "Solar Bytes" email on Jan 5th and the Solar Winds Day announcement on Jan 30th.

  • I don't think I get invitations to the missions. I just look for them at about the right time. I found a special two week mission had taken place, long after it was over, that I never even heard about. There is also the possibility that the email got lost.

On another note, since SolarWinds is based in Austin, Texas, will we still be able to get stuff from the store after Texas secedes from the union?

  • Same here, I don't get invitations to missions. They just pop-up.

My coworker is an MVP and he tends to get the mission on time. Sometimes my account may take another day or two to populate.

What I have figured out, if you don't see the newest mission, change the month in the url. I didn't have the February mission posted yesterday, but I got to the February mission yesterday by replacing "jan" with "feb" in the url. Today I see Feb's mission posted.

  • I received an email on Feb 6th with the subject "Community Announcements: THWACK Monthly Mission - February 2024" which said "Join us as we embark on an IT service management journey where the possibilities are as vast as the universe and time."  Sounded like fun.  Clicked on link.  Ended up here.

Checking back, the last time I got a similar email was July 2022 (Community Announcements: THWACK Monthly Mission - July Mission SysAdmin Summers).

  • Wow, look!  Two down votes so far. I wonder what they didn't like about my post?

    Friendly little community, this one.
