  • Congrats!!  I can't believe I won something as well.....SolarWinds you're my favorite!

  • Wow I won a prize!!!! After many years of trying in these monthly comps, I won a prize. Sweeeeeet!

The prize is something I've actually been looking for. Something to improve the wifi in my house and something to control the kid's wifi. Both boxes ticked with 1 prize.

    Solarwinds, you guys rock!!

  • This has been a nice look back at some technology milestones over the many years. This was pretty cool since I have worked in technology since you had to explain what "telecommunications" was back in the late 1970's when I served as a Radioman, Communications Systems Manager and Teletype Repairman in the US Navy from 1977 through 1983. That was before error correction (ASCII) and YOU were the error correction, cutting paper tapes on a UGC-6 model teletypes using baudot code (one start bit, 5 intelligence bits and one stop bit), tape readers, perforators and reperforators, mechanical monsters which I also repaired. Running a Radio Shack on US Navy Fast Frigate (Destroyer Escort) patching together communications circuits with 60ma patch cords with various transmitters, receivers, converters, crypto equipment and patch panels from the oldest HF, VHF and UHF technology and to the latest satellite transmitters and receivers that at times had to be manually tuned for proper azimuth and elevation while transiting across the Pacific on a Westpac cruise. It is hard to imagine how we primarily relied on 100 wpm teletype circuits (74.2 baud rate) for our communication throughout the US fleet.

Now that is a Memory Reboot!! emoticons_wink.png  People don't really appreciate how easy they have it nowadays!! emoticons_cool.png
