It’s just around the corner – registration for THWACKcamp 2022 opens on January 4. This 10th THWACKcamp celebrates a decade of IT exploration and expert insights: still 100% free, still 100% virtual, still 100% brain-engaging.
Are we excited? You bet your managed switch we’re excited! THWACKcamp 2022 will mark the 10th year of bringing the SolarWinds THWACK Community the content they so richly deserve.
Let’s get the preamble out of the way: THWACKcamp 2022 runs March 2 – 3 and registration opens January 4. Even if you read no further, put these dates on your calendar now. We’ll wait.
For me, I’ve been involved with THWACKcamp since 2015 and it’s been one [REDACTED] of a ride. The people, the content, the production, the sheer learning has been amazing. Working with all the creative people here set my mind racing and my heart thumping. But my story begins before I ever set foot inside a SolarWinds office.
Before SolarWinds, I was a customer struggling to understand this new “Orion” thing that had been placed on my desk. I didn’t know what I didn’t know but that’s standard practice for any new technologies for IT professionals. I did what I always do with new technologies that interest me: I jumped right into the deep end.
Thankfully, THWACKcamp was my lifeguard and it kept me afloat in my sea of unknown unknowns. I remember watching the sessions and the possibilities dawned on me about how to take everything I was doing and make it that much better.
My fondest memory of THWACKcamp was learning how to try and automatically fix things (using alerts) before anyone knew they were down. I won’t sugarcoat it – implementing that solution in my environment added a little extra work for me in the days after THWACKcamp, but after it was done, I could go home and sleep the deep sleep of someone who knew they wouldn’t get phone calls at 3 a.m.
January 4. Register for THWACKcamp. Future you will thank you.
I shared my memories, but this is an event for the community, so I’d like to hear yours. If this is your first time attending THWACKcamp, let us know what you’re excited to see; if you’re a long-time attendee, what’s been your favorite part of a past THWACKcamp?
