If you are considering joining a SolarWinds User Group™ event and are in the Minneapolis/St. Paul greater metro area, then have I got great news for you!
We’re headed to Minnesota!
Over the eight years of the SolarWinds User Group program, we went from 15 people attending a four-hour block of sessions to today: hundreds of attendees, two full days, keynotes, three track-based session blocks to choose from, interactive workshops, and we’re not slowing down.
We’re bringing the goodness to you, free of charge, in the Twin Cities on May 10-11. Let me reiterate: two days, three tracks/day, technology professionals, social networking, and your ticket is free.
And They Tell Two Friends…
TL;DR: Tell two friends about SWUG™
There is no way you can be in three sessions simultaneously, so take the opportunity to bring a friend, co-worker, colleague, or manager/supervisor – it doesn’t matter. The important thing is that you and your team walk away with the knowledge necessary to tackle your IT woes. Helping people solve problem is why SolarWinds, THWACK®, and the SWUG program exist.
After years of speaking with attendees, one of the biggest regrets of previous SWUG attendees was coming alone. In retrospect, they should have brought that one co-worker, or that IT colleague they know from a previous job, or a manager at their company, or someone from their upper management. As has been said for years, “Many hands make light work” and supporting a thriving IT environment is a job for many hands.
If we’re honest with ourselves, we realize we can never know everything; that’s why THWACK is such a powerful community. You build your own knowledge with the help of hundreds of thousands of other people facing the same problem. Why not take a tip from that playbook and invite a few colleagues to SWUG?
My personal recommendation: you should invite at least two other people to this event. For myself, I would have brought someone from my management team and a colleague from a different team. They would have been aware of goings on in the IT space that were outside my responsibilities and sphere of expertise. A solution to one of their problems may have been in the room. Heed my recommendation: they’ll thank you for it.
Reserve Rooms
If you’d like to avoid any potential traffic or don’t fancy the commute, we’ve negotiated a special rate with the Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington Hotel on your behalf. This limited set of negotiated room rates is only available until April 11, 2023. Act quickly if you’re interested in cutting that drive time to zero.
Do not sleep on this – since this is our first trip to the region, there’s a high probability that the seats and rooms will fill quickly. The last thing we want to do is turn people away at the door, so register for the event and book your rooms now.
Although this is a new destination, it’s not a new event. Teams that attend a SolarWinds User Group have a higher chance of success because they work from a common understanding. It’s better to have a SWUG-buddy along for the ride.
- If this is your first SWUG, who do you plan on inviting along?
- If you’ve attended a SWUG solo before, do you wish you had brought someone to help tackle your projects?
- If you’ve attended a SWUG with a group, I’d love to hear about your personal experiences.
I’m looking forward to scratching Minnesota off from my travel map and I hope to see you (and some of your friends) there!

Yay, SWUG! Bring a co-worker, divide and conquer and walk away with all the knowledge you can. Start strategizing now. Don't plan to fail because you failed to plan.
