as the account is created by the installer it's probably not a good idea to use something different. The installer will also remove the account when the agent is removed. Technically, linux will allow you to run any service using any account you wish to use - but you're into a manual process to maintain that config. So you…

you may find it easier to use NPM, as you already own it. Create a poller to check the snmp using OID that @"saw10" mentioned That will give you a specific method to at least know when something drops out. For added points you can build an alert that looks for specific return codes to attempt remediation before alerting…

yep - I wouldn't trust Meraki to do anything that would help anyone else. They started out so well, but since the Cisco takeover have become more and more closed off. Cloud managed in this case means closed and siloed.

if a file is being written to I'm not sure it would still count as stale. It sounds like the only way to do it without using the file system timestamp would be just on filename or data content. But that is fraught with issues. If the file is deleted and recreated with the same name for instance. Best pin down very…

How are you getting the page into NOC view?
-
Thanks DanielleH

Perfect - Thank you!

thanks! Yes we are running 6.1RC3 I guess I was hoping to figure out how to debug these script monitors so I can find out what is happening. I'm pretty sure its not a code issue with SAM, more of a "how do I debug"

thanks for posting the solution you found

If you're using the recommendations view, take a look at the recommendation settings, you can use a Policy to exclude objects. Alternatively you can use the filter on the screen. If its the canned report, you should be able to copy it and edit it to get what you need.

Thanks Paul The problem is that the url only shows the LAST waterfall with no history. It was suggested in the discussion I linked to that somehow including a pdf of the current waterfall from the time of the alert would help. But there was no detail how to actually do that.

thank you - its a good excuse to get rid of the old one a rebuild using a newer windows server as well

thank you for posting the work around - glad it worked for you!

without SNMP your options are somewhat limited. Will your security folks allow SNMP-V3 which may solve some issues and be less complex than attempting tunnelling? [editing for spelling ]

Thanks for the suggestion! My experience with using alerting based on groups is that it can be difficult to get the alert to include anything useful about what has actually been triggered - other than the group is in alert condition The other issue is that it just alerts when anything in the group triggers.
-
Thanks Rob, that does make sense. So really the only way I can be sure is to trace the traffic on the span port to see for ourselves? As with all new functionality we are just trying to figure out the details

the NTA database is not a SQL server and the migration to NTA4 is so worth the move. It is much quicker. Since the upgrade we have tripled the amount of data we store because it no longer impacts our SQL servers.

I took the easy way out and started using AD groups instead. Then applied the detailed SW permissions to the group.

wow its amazing what you can find digging around on this site Its working now, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Final url is :- http://servername/orion/summaryview.aspx?ViewID=97&isnocview=true&accountid=user&password=password Hooray for NOCView - it works really well
-
the url I'm currently using is http://servername/orion/Login.aspx?accountid=user&password=password I'm not sure how to combine that user login and the view with http://servername/Orion/SummaryView.aspx?ViewID=97&isnocview=true

ah - but you filled in the details that I missed out

thanks Vinay BY and HolyGuacamole I had found those reports earlier - they are similar to the one that mharvey suggested. They only list Alerts that have triggered, including historical alert triggers. I am trying to get a snapshot of those alerts that are CURRENTLY triggered - in other words only the alerts that have not…
-
Thanks Matthew I found a query that did a similar thing - but the report still shows alerts that are no longer current. It is still a history report. I am trying to get a report of alerts that have not reset, where the alert condition is still current

@"dmvrtisjr" the Road Map link is working now. Thanks for spotting it
