  • Great post! I agree that SCOM and SAM compliment each other very well, especially if you are a Microsoft shop. We run SQL, SharePoint, AD, IIS, and almost every 3rd party program on a Windows server. SCOM (or SCE in our case) does a great job in "just knowing" what to look at and what to alert us on. AD Replication falling…
  • Thanks for the OID suggestion. ServeRAID was installed after the SNMP service was configured, so I don't think it was the install order. Also, the disks appear in both MIB walks. At this point, I think the best option is a ticket with support. Thanks for the help! [99EE296]…
  • That last suggestion is similar to what I tried to start with, which was a filter for only V2Flat disk types. Same result: it showed total IOPs for each VM in the list, not for the disks.
  • It has an Adaptec RAID controller, 8i. And it's running WIndows 2008 R2. Also, it's an SNMP and WMI node. It's a SQL database server and I use APM templates for monitoring the SQL services (SNMP) and Database Mirroring performance (WMI). The OS version, node type, network, and everything else i can think of is the same…
  • I have to agree with rgward. I completed the setup of pages for monitoring HSRP, OSPF, and IP SLA data, all using UnDP. But when I add multiple Tab Device Poller objects to a summary page, the columns are in different orders on each object. I really love the UnDP and the amount of data it can bring in. Everything from…
  • Hi Jon, That's close; only I'm not looking for a widget for a specific VM, but one that looks at each LUN usage for each VM and shows me the top-N highest IOPs. The back story here is that I am working on rebalancing our main storage SAN and as I move VMs around between datastores, I can see the changes in datastore IOPs…
  • I don't believe it's b/c of a difference in polling type. Both servers are setup as SNMP devices and neither have ever been monitored as VMware. In fact, all of my VMware servers are monitoring hardware correctly. I did open a ticket (#323377) and have been working with support. Currently the problem appears to be on the…
  • First, the CPU & Memory box is checked on both servers. Also, ServeRAID is installed on both servers. However, the server that reports Disk and Array health has to lower version (9.0). The other server is running 9.2. Finally, I verified that I installed version 6.3 of the Systems Director Common Agent for Windows. Perhaps…
  • Yes it is! In fact, I just finished setting this up for our own SQL Server mirrors. If it continues to work for another week or so, I'll package it up as new Content and upload to the site. Until then, it's just adding Windows Performance monitors on these entries: Database Mirroring: Transaction Delay (ms) Database…
  • Updates: First, after working with support, it looks like the root cause is that the IBM CIM and Adaptec SNMP responders were not replying in time on some polls. This was alleviated somewhat by uninstalling both IBM Common and ServeRAID, then installing ServeRAID 9.3 first, then installing Common Agent 6.3. After the…
  • I agree, especially about optimization data being shown as an alert. WIth the built-in alerts, I think you really have to review them and add/change/delete based on your desired operational standards. For example, the alert you mentioned (Over-allocated Space), it unfortunately includes all disks (e.g. RDMs) in it's…
