Upgraded Webhelpdesk 12.8.5.108 - Speed Issues

Updated our helpdesk last night to 12.8.5.108.  When you log in it is painfully slow - To click from one tab to another it takes up to 5 mins.  This only happens if you are part of the  Admin Group (Account Type).  Moved myself to a Tech and all works although still a tad slow.  Customers raising calls on the helpdesk work fine with no speed issues.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

I have raised a support ticket.

  • HF1 is a must as we use SAML unfortunately!  Ill request the Buddy Drop as its not in my customer portal as yet.

  • This morning I got another maintenance windows to upgrade from 12.8.4 to 12.8.5 HF2.  I also received a email from SolarWinds Support that I have been working with that they released HF3 form WHD 12.8.5 to address an issue with the 12.8.5 HF2 Installer with a backend SQL Database.  The instructions I received was if I run into an error with upgrading the tables to immediately apply HF3.

I installed 12.8.5 HF2 (Full Installer) and got the database configuration page as expected and had to enter my information.  Ran the test connection and it was good.  However when trying to upgrade the tables it appeared to hand for awhile and then timeout. I then received an error message.  I stopped the WebHelpdesk Service and copied the files over for HF3.  I then started the Helpdesk Service and got the screen again that the tables need to be updated.  This time it said 12.8.5 HF3.  This appeared to run as expected.

I then stopped the Helpdesk Service and ran the migrate.bat with the necessary path and information (I have our helpdesk installed on D:\Program Files and not C:\Program Files).  This appears to have completed but I got the same results I had in the past that I have sent to SolarWinds Support on my case.

I then started the Helpdesk Service again and from the brief testing I did performance appeared to be normal.  I was able to click on different screens without having a 30 plus second wait for a response.  I was able to create, update, and close a ticket.  I tested searching for assets and clients without any problem.

We are going to run this in production for a few days, if I run into any unexpected issues I will update on this post as well.  However it appears I was able to get a successful upgrade after installing 12.8.5 HF2, 12.8.5HF3 Files, and then run the migrate.bat.

  • Feedback we have from other sites is HF2 build with HF3 on top is good.
