I created a custom property for virtual datastores in version 2023.1, but now I cannot find where to edit the values for a datastore. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I believe Adam's response is correct, but I really don't like it. I want an easy way for our Virtualization team to go in and update these fields, without having to wade through the 'Manage Custom Properties' pages. If anyone has an alternative, I'd be really, really interested to hear it. There has to be a better way to manage enter values for this type of custom property. If there isn't, there should be.
Would script-y stuff work for your guys, or batch upload stuff, or looking for a different type of UI?
-SWIS api/powershell module etc
- spreadsheet download/upload with excel and the same manage custom properties page
-Not sure, maybe somewhere
I'm personally not concerned about batch updates; the tools provided for that are quite adequate. I'm looking for an easy way to quickly update these values for an individual VM. Basically something that looks like the VM Custom Properties widget, but allows for updates. I'd be happy with a widget that runs an API/Powershell script that provides the functionality, but my scripting skills aren't up to creating my own UI for such a function.
adam.beedell adam.beedell is exactly correct on this. We have to go through that for Datastores and WPM/Transaction monitors. We use a prefix on our property names, so that we can quickly filter utilizing the search box. We are also pretty heavy on using custom properties for our alerts, so there is a fair amount of name overlap as well (Like Email Address and Responsible Team). So it allows us to stay consistent.
I've gone ahead and created a feature request for a better way to manage VMAN related custom properties. Feel free to add your vote to it if you'd like to see this feature added ... some day!
