Monitor Overprovisioned VMs

Hello,

We would like to identify servers which have been running <50% memory utilisation over the last 30 days. I have been thinking about how to do this within Solarwinds and stumbled across the Recommendations section.

Is it possible to create a custom recommendation that would show this or would we have to adjust the thresholds of all our VMs? We currently use the default thresholds.

regards

  • You should be able to do that with a standard report rather than recommendations. Screen shot below shows the basic criteria to select in the report. Make sure to also include the column "Average CPU Used" from the "VM Statistics History" grouping.
