SQL Sentry 2024.4 is Now Available | THWACK

We’re excited to announce SolarWinds® SQL Sentry® 2024.4, which is officially available. You can find it on the web site as a download as well as in your customer portal.

As with all our updates, this release brings new features, performance improvements, and more to improve SQL Sentry. Some of the highlights include: expanded charting capabilities, flexible licensing, and easier onboarding for SQL Sentry Portal.

What’s New?

Fresh Updates to Portal: Improvements to Custom Charting & Enhanced UX

In the latest release, we continue modernizing SQL Sentry with some exciting new features in Portal.

Custom Charting Templates: You can now create and save chart templates, making it easy to keep your visuals consistent and shareable across your team.

Expanded Execution Plan Insights: We’ve added deeper data to execution plans via expanded tooltips and context menus. This gives you easy access to critical insights without needing to navigate away from what you're working on.

Simplified Setup and Onboarding for SQL Sentry Portal

We’ve listened to your feedback and focused on making SQL Sentry Portal setup smoother and faster than ever. With streamlined configuration steps, we’ve cut down on setup time and removed common roadblocks, so you can get started easily.

Flexible Database Licensing Options

We’re happy to announce a change in how we license our self-hosted database offerings. Now, with a single self-hosted license, you can use either DPA or SQL Sentry, depending on what best fits your needs.

If you’re monitoring Azure SQL Databases, we’ve also introduced a fractional cost license specifically for DBaaS environments, making it simple and cost-effective to include cloud databases. For more details, feel free to reach out to your account representative.

Better Health and Performance

This release also brings several backend enhancements designed to keep SQL Sentry running smoothly. 

Repository and Collection Improvements: These updates help improve performance and maintain database health while reducing the need for support.

Less Noise from Alerts: We’ve fine-tuned alerts to cut down on unnecessary notifications, so you’ll only see what’s truly important.
