Approver Conditions Based on custom field type User

We want to be able to get approvals based from a manager of a custom field (User field).

For example, we have a custom field type User called "Software Requested for", for the Requester to specify who needs new software. But the approval can only go to the "Incident Requester's Manager", not the manager of the person the software is requested for.

mark01010 - Have you tested this in the previous four months? I believe the functionality you were looking for, driving the Approval Assigned To off of your "Software is requested for" User Custom Field, is present in SWSD.

Unfortunately setting up 'Dynamic Approvers' only allows us to pre-define groups of approvers globally, not based on Requester input (i.e. a Catalog field).

Hi, we recently released the ability to reference custom user fields on a user record for approvals. The part of this use case that we do not, currently, support is the ability to reference a user selected outside of the requester field in the approval flow. Since the software is for another individual, wouldn't the requester be the person who needs the software? Take a look at the new dynamic approval functionality to see if it helps resolve this use case for you. Dynamic Approvals
