looking for assistance creating a GPO login script to install the Discovery Agent on my computers

timreams, does the Discovery Agent installer have an MSI file extension? If so then you could use Software Deployment directly without the need for login scripts (it's a lot more straightforward this way vs. login scripts). Here's a resource that I use often when I have to create these types of GPOs. One of the main gotchas that I've run across is that the location of the installation files needs to be readable by all users and computers so if you store it on a share that has restricted permissions it'll lead to failures. Something I've kind of done as standard practice to overcome it is whenever I do something like this I place the installation files in NETLOGON because by default all authenticated users and computers has read access to that location.

timreams, bummer. I generally don't like using GPO's to deploy EXE's. Do you have any kind of software deployment tools like SCCM, Patch Manager, Tanium, etc? If not, then GPO might be your only option. A quick google search returns this method. In reviewing the article the method seems sound and easy enough to implement, so it would be worth a shot.

I am actually going to try to rewrap the exe in an msi and see if i can then do it according to the original resource you suggested.

i've been trying to use that but its telling me the wim exceeds file size.

Hmmm. I'm following the instructions to the letter and it works for me just fine. 

It's a third party program, so we're not able to directly support the activity, but hopefully someone can offer some guidance here in the forums.

Yep exactly the same, with the exception of the msi version of the agent which i have not been able to create.

not sure what i did differently but it worked that time. and i was able to install it. now i just need to test the unattendedness of it.
