How to create a multipick user field

Question

I am needing a multi picklist user field for our Work Order incident form. I can create a multi picklist field but then have to define the list of users. Or I can create a user field but then I can only choose one user. I don't see how to create such a custom field.

Hi nwhite-efg , currently you would use a multi pick list field and manually write out the users you want in the list. This allows the user to select from the list but since they are manual entries (text) the system would not be able to take action on them like adding them to an approval or task. We have a new field type of multi pick list user in the works and hope to get it out in the coming months. 
 We are also working on the following new field types that will support validation: 
 
 Number (in development now) 
 Email (in development now) 
 Telephone (next for development) 
 URL ( next for development) 
 Regex (this is a bigger effort and will probably be in 2026)
