Asset ID's for reinstalls on computers

How do you handle the Asset ID's for when you have to reinstall a computer.  The asset tag goes to the device so it needs to maintain the same ID number however the system will not let me duplicate the Asset ID even if i mark the device as Disposed or Lost.

    Are you saying that when you replace a computer, you reuse the asset ID of the computer it replaces? In our instance, we treat asset ID as unique, although they don't have to be (i tested by changing 3 to all have the same Asset ID). Reimaging hasn't been a problem, as the new agent install points it right back to the appropriate device record in SWSD. New devices get their own new. Asset ID
