Elevate Security and Privacy Compliance with Enhanced Data Masking for Text-Based User Inputs
Earlier this year, we introduced data masking for attachments, and we’re excited to expand this capability with the release of masking for text-based user input fields across different platforms. This enhancement strengthens security by safeguarding sensitive information from unauthorized access and helps ensure compliance with privacy regulations. The additional data masking applies to various formats and works seamlessly across platforms such as Teams, Slack, Virtual Agent (VA), and mobile, as well as throughout the SolarWinds Service Desk platform.
Data masking is implemented during key actions like creation, cloning, and export, as well as in emails generated from reports, notifications, and more. Role-based permissions allow only authorized users to view unmasked data, ensuring personally identifiable information (PII) and payment card information (PCI) like Social Security Numbers, credit card details, and other personal identifiers are protected while remaining searchable.
Data masking within all text-based user input fields is available for Premier and Advanced plans, while Advanced plan is limited to system fields (title, description, and comments). Premier plan customers also have access to data masking within attachments. For more details, see Labs.
Coming in a few days! Mobile App Support for ESM
This new update will expand use of the SolarWinds Service Desk mobile app to all enabled service providers within the Enterprise Service Management (ESM) environment, streamlining the experience for support teams and requesters. The updated app version will be available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store soon. We will make an announcement when it is available – stay tuned!
