Hybrid Cloud Observability vs. SolarWinds Observability

So to be clear SolarWinds Observability is a cloud-based SaaS? That is, you subscribe to the SWO SaaS to perform monitoring in your hybrid (cloud/on-prem) enterprise? And SolarWinds Hybrid Cloud Observability is license refactoring for your on-prem SolarWinds deployment? Do I have that correct?

  • Yes it is a Cloud-Based SaaS offering. It is a subscription service. Hybrid Cloud Observability is a subscription offering for on-prem software.  Let me know if that answers your questions. SolarWinds Observability provides DevOps teams, SREs, Developers with unified observability for custom, web applications and its supporting infrastructure, databases and end user experience.

  • Hello Peter. It would be awesome if Solar Winds could provide a feature matrix/guide on how Solar Winds Orion, HCO and SWO accomodate one another.

I saw mentions of SWO eventually supporting everything Orion and HCO have, but just mentioned it will be a while. When is a while?

We are currently working on a proof of concept to verify what Orion, HCO and SWO can provide us compared to SW's competitors; DataDog, Dynatrace, New Relic, etc.

For todays hybrid solution. What would your recommendations be if using Orion? Move to HCO and get the platform connect working with SWO? We need a full stack solution for our on-prem and Azure cloud platforms.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

  • My apologies for missing your post. Would love to discuss this with you, if it is not too late. You don't need HCO to leverage SWO networking, however it would be worth some time to better understand how you are using Orion today to give you the best advice on how to proceed. Let me know if you want to discuss. Again, my apologies for missing htis post.

  • Hello Peter. It is not too late!

We are still awaiting feedback on some design items from Solar Winds Harrison Cummins and John Eagleton.

We are working on standing up a proof of concept to allow our IT SME's to compare what Solar Winds has available against your competitors solution.

Just not certain what the best route is for us.

We only have Orion today (non HCO License). Seems we need HCO Advanced with platform connect for full stack monitoring. Please ping Harrison and John and ask if you can assist.
