Hybrid Cloud Observability vs. SolarWinds Observability

So to be clear SolarWinds Observability is a cloud-based SaaS? That is, you subscribe to the SWO SaaS to perform monitoring in your hybrid (cloud/on-prem) enterprise? And SolarWinds Hybrid Cloud Observability is license refactoring for your on-prem SolarWinds deployment? Do I have that correct?

  • Yes it is a Cloud-Based SaaS offering. It is a subscription service. Hybrid Cloud Observability is a subscription offering for on-prem software.  Let me know if that answers your questions. SolarWinds Observability provides DevOps teams, SREs, Developers with unified observability for custom, web applications and its supporting infrastructure, databases and end user experience.

  • The more I look into this, the more confused I get.  I had on-prem, Orion Platform which I thought was being rebranded as Solarwinds Platform.  I upgraded to 2022.3 and under Program Filles I see it is now called Solarwinds Observability.  But you're saying that is the name for SAAS offering.  These terms are confusing, and it seems they are being used very loosely.  Am I missing something?

  • Hello There,

Orion is the name of our On-Prem A la Carte Products like NPM, NTA, ....

HCO - Hybrid Cloud Obser is the name of our On-Prem bundled offering that includes a set of one or more A la Carte products.

There are certain capabilities that will only be available in HCO vs standalone Orion products - e.g. AI OPs Anomaly detection for Alert noise reduction, Advanced Cloud Monitoring capabilities etc

Solarwinds Observability or SWO is our SaaS Solution that was launched a few days ago. Most of what you know  as Orion/HCO applications (NPM, NTA, NCM, IPAM) , (SAM,VMAN,SRM,.SCM) will be available over time in SWO as well

    Hope that clarifies the confusion

  • 2022.3 Incorrectly shows as SolarWinds Observability

This will be corrected in 2022.4
