Request for clarification on Triggered Alerts

Hi Team,

Greetings!

I hope you are all doing well. I have a few questions about active alerts and their working behavior. Please refer to the snapshot below for your reference.

1. In points no.1, 2, 3 & 4 it's showing alert active time is 60d 22h 55m, I want to know why it's showing like this as the issue is already resolved.

2. In Point no. 5 it's showing alert active time is 114d 9h 57m, I want to know why it's showing like this as the issue is already resolved and the alert is also acknowledged.

3. In Point no. 6 it's showing alert active time is 115d 2h 54m, I want to know why it's showing like this as the issue is already resolved and the alert is also acknowledged.

4. Please explain how triggered alerts work and when an active alert is displayed, regardless of whether the issue is resolved.

  • From what I understand about active alerts, is that if the problem is still there, the alert will remain active, if the problem is resolved the alert should go away. What you can try is clearing the alert by selecting the node you want to clear then click on "clear triggered instance of alert" If the alert comes back the problem still persists. NB this will clear the day and hour and minute counters for the active alert.

  • Users have reported some complaints to me, that the alert trigger is showing but at the same time or long back ago issue was resolved.

Please refer to the alert shown in the snapshot below. Although the user's issue was resolved a few days ago, the alert is still showing. I suggest acknowledging the alert, as it should then disappear. They followed my suggestion, but now they are asking why the alert is still showing if the issue has been resolved and should have been removed automatically.

  • Might be worth logging a support ticket. Like I said, my understanding is that if the issue has been resolved, the active alert will go away.

  • you can force a config to send new polls and see if it resolves the alert. If it does not, then you can try a way to force reset status and watch for a while if the alert triggers again. If it's still there you dont want to renounce more, or even dont have time then you can think to log a ticket. I always believe is faster to make some troubleshooting before requiring help desk assistance. Good luck!
