Unexpected Website Error

All of the MSI files should be under C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers. However, appwiz.cpl usually can't see this unless you modify the permissions of the directory. If you simply browse to the directory you'll likely get a UAC prompt to modify the permissions, after which you'll be able to run the repair.

Hello and thanks for responding.  We don't have a ProgramData directory on either of our drives.  Could that be the problem?  Software didn't install properly?

It's a hidden folder. If you go to the "View" tab in file explorer and check the box for "hidden items", you should see it.

Very sneaky.  Is it documented somewhere that this folder is hidden (Have mercy).  I can see it now.  Wow!

And just like that, the repair has started!  Thanks so very much.  Still waiting for a response from Support.  I guess I will update the ticket.

The ProgramData directory is more of a Microsoft thing being it is part of every Windows install and is always hidden by default.

Did you have a certificate error when viewing the resource?

One more question, have you done the website rebuild before and if so.  Do all the steps need to be completed or just the repair from the control panel.  The document doesn't say.

I've done many of them over the years. It really depends on what the issue is. At the very least, you'll want to run the configuration wizard after the repair being that is what actually creates/rebuilds the website. It's not a bad idea to follow it as documented though as some of the other steps clear out your .Net cache, etc. 

I'm guessing that support is looking at your logs for you, but if you want to see what is actually failing, your best luck would be to dig into C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion\OrionWeb.log and look for any errors. These are more verbose than the error messages that you see in the browser.
