Table of Contents
Hybrid Cloud Observability
These features and improvements are exclusive to Hybrid Cloud Observability products.
Support for Azure Load Balancer and Azure SQL DB
We have added support for discovering, polling, and monitoring two new Azure cloud objects:
- Azure Load Balancer
- Azure SQL DB
New Cloud Summary Dashboard for Azure and AWS
We are revamping the summary pages related to cloud-based entities monitored in Hybrid Cloud Observability. In 2024.2 we have introduced a new AWS summary dashboard that allows you to see your AWS objects more clearly with a refreshed UI. We have also extended the Azure summary to include a new category for databases.
Increased capacity for High Availability Pools
For Hybrid Cloud Observability customers, you can add more than two Additional Poling Engines (APEs) to a HA pool, allowing you to reduce the number of APEs you need to deploy as spares for High Availability. Note for this release, configuration of HA pools with more than two members requires the use of the API/SDK.
Vulnerability and Risk Dashboard Improvements
We are excited to continue expanding our security observability capabilities with support for more vendors that have vulnerability information in our vulnerability and risk dashboard. In this version, we now support Palo Alto, Fortinet, and HPE-Aruba devices apart from Cisco, Juniper, Windows, Linux and VMware support that are already supported.
For customers that choose not to have a node participate in the vulnerability widgets, you can now go to the respective node settings page and disable the node under “Manage node(s) with Security”.
Hybrid Cloud Observability and Network and Systems modules
These features and improvements are available for Hybrid Cloud Observability customers, as well as customers who own Network and Systems modules.
Expanded SDWAN Monitoring: Aruba Silver Peak
We have added support for Aruba Silver Peak SD-WAN monitoring of SD-WAN Edge devices and cloud orchestrators using the native API. Key features include:
- Edge Devices monitoring.
- Displaying General Details: Information such as device name, model, serial number, status, and type can be displayed.
- IP Address Display: All IP addresses for a specific Aruba Silver Peak SD-WAN device can be displayed and matched with IPs received in NetFlow data.
- CDP and LLDP Data: Displayed from Aruba Silver Peak SD-WAN devices to build connections between them.
- VLANs and Port Maps Data: Displayed from Aruba Silver Peak SD-WAN devices.
- Monitoring Uplinks: Includes WAN interfaces, VPN tunnels, VPN tunnel metrics, and performance score.
- Cloud Orchestrator Monitoring:
- Display status and response time, polled via native API.
- Device List Display: Show all devices managed by a cloud orchestrator and add these devices in a simplified discovery.
New Wireless Support: Aruba Orchestrator and Wireless Access Points
Monitoring Aruba Wireless Controllers via API polling provides access point details, network-wide polling of clients, and details of Rouge access points. Key features include:
- Total Number of Access Points: Keep track of the overall count of access points deployed in your network.
- Total Number of Users| Clients: Monitor the number of connected users to assess network load.
- Rogue Access Point Signal Strength: Detect and manage unauthorized or rogue access points by evaluating their signal strength.
- Response Time: Observe the Response Time on controller to ensure efficient operation.
- Packet Loss: Monitor Packet Loss to prevent performance bottlenecks.
- Percent Utilization on Interface: Percent Utilization on Interface from access points to connected devices.
SRM Only: NetApp E-Series devices now monitored via API
NetApp recently deprecated the SMI-S provider for E-Series devices. Polling in SRM has now been updated to include support for the new API. The new polling option has also added support for hardware health and controller status in E-Series devices.
IPAM: Split DHCP scope wizard UI updated
The wizard for DHCP scope splitting user interface has been upgraded for a better user experience while maintaining the existing functionality.
WPM Only: Transaction Conversion Tool
Internet Explorer based transactions will be removed from the product in a future version. We know that many customers have large numbers of IE-based transactions still running, and we are providing a new tool to help automate the process of moving your transactions from IE to Chromium.
Migrate WPM recordings using the Recordings Migration Tool
SolarWinds Platform Improvements
The following improvements have been made to the overall platform:
Maps created in Network Atlas can now be imported to Intelligent Maps
No more manually recreating maps from scratch! The new migration tool allows for direct import of legacy maps created in Network Atlas into Intelligent Maps. You can select and import Network Atlas maps as well as Wireless Heatmaps.
Improved stability and performance
Every release, we focus on upgrades, stability, security, and bugs. Here are a few of the items we improved in this release.
- Agent upgrade times are reduced
- Agents reconnect faster when a poller is restarted or failover occurs
- Reduced chance of missed polls and out-of-memory errors
- Improved polling of PCU/UPS devices
- Bug and security fixes
Security Always
We focus on securely coding, building, and delivering software to you. SolarWinds Aims to Set New Standard in Software Development with Next-Generation Build System.
