How many pings NPM sends to get node status by ICMP?

Got question from customer about how many pings system sends to get node status by ICMP?

There is setup in ALL SETINGS to define SNMP retries but no information or setting to configure nr of pings which Orion sends to node if node status is polled by ICMP. So the question is how many pings SolarWinds system sends to node in one cycle of polling?

That is not the answer, I need I know how polling works but the question was: how many pings SolarWinds ICMP polling send to node to get status? When sending a ping to a device from the command line there are 4 pings, so how many SolarWinds send?

Checking in Wireshark there is only a single ping sent every 120 seconds (the default polling interval). If that fails it enters fast polling as described in the article linked earlier (and more details are in a post linked in the article).
