STIG and SCM

It is great that SCM has the ability to check STIGs. Is their a plan to actually update them so that people can use them? Or were the STIGs placed out there so people can understand how to create new templates themselves?

If anyone has created a later version please share. If I get time and create any I will post, but I know I wont have time in the near future.
