Some help is required to get SNMP implemented in OHM. Once that is done, SAM would be able to gather hardware info on virtually any server.
The information that OHM gathers can already be collected with SNMP. Are you suggesting that having an OHM agent on an endpoint could bypass the need for device-specific MIBs, or that OHM could be the polling engine?
I only have the choice of IE at work. And usually that sort of thing is a server config thing!
It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure it's something I personally think SolarWinds should be rushing to do just yet. They probably have the majority of the server market covered with HP, Dell and IBM. The only vendor I'd like to see added there is Cisco given their move into the server market through the UCS platform.
Personally, I would rather see the team putting some of this knowledge into NPM now and getting switch hardware health monitoring up and running since that will probably be of more benefit to more users.
