Mute Alerts Using Groups

Not from the group itself. Bu you can use the group membership to create a script that parses through all members of a group and mute's them.

I would use a custom property instead of group for this, but you can do it in either way.

I'm new to SolarWinds and also looking for a built in way of muting alerts on many nodes at once, like from the group level. When I highlight a group, it says I can mute alerts but it does not work, and manually muting alerts is not good solution since we have a large amount of nodes. I'm finding it strange that SolarWinds still does not have a built in way of muting many nodes at once. I'm also an ex Nagios user and this feature just seems like a basic thing then you have an monitoring and alerting suite. 

I use custom properties to do this. For example, we have a custom property set on the node that identifies a Physical Location. When I want mute all the nodes that are in a specific physical location, I use the Manage Nodes screen to select them all and schedule/mute.
