How do you guys use more than one Domain?

Helloooo,

Just wondering how you guys are able to access multiple domains that you create in Serv-U? Because I can only access 127.0.0.1 which is only my first domain I created. I have created another under the name of http:Serv-U-Testing2.com. What are the requirements to access another domain in Serv-U?

  • Hello,

this part is good described in the Serv-U Administrator Guide (Point: "Create a Serv-U domain" respectively "Serv-U domain level settings / Listeners".

In my Case, I use a separate IP for separate Domains, because not every protocol (for example SFTP) is able to handle more domains on one IP.

    best regards,

    Markus

  • separate IP address for every domain is the only reliable way.

  • Hello

You can set up Multiple MFT domains by way of using Virtual Hosts eg: mftsite1; mftsite2 on the same Server IP/port

I have done this on windows Server

With my domains I have the domains Home directory set to a different subfolder under a common root directory for separation of data

Then I create DNS alias for each domain that I have so the users can use a friendly name and the data then goes to that domains home drive

I have both a HTTPS and SFTP Domain configured in my case.

See the Admin guide on virtual domains.

    Hope that Helps

  • I have about 8 virtual domains via one IP address using MFT gateway proxy it works well simple by having the DNS names on your public point to the same IP address for your Serv-U gateway device.  The Gateway being in a DMZ will then be polled for the Serv-U server and match the corresponding Virtual domain assigned.

  • One domain is for automation with vendor partners, the other works best for humans; and from a management standpoint, two separate setup guides and email templates.

So for me, it's all about my mental bandwidth and line of business, support and worries...
