Is an evaluation version of APE supposed to work when installed?

Tried installing an evaluation version of APE to see if it will fix some polling issues of local nodes we're having since moving Orion into the Azure cloud. Got it installed but when I selected the new engine, the node goes gray and doesn't poll.

Asked Solarwinds support and they just referred me to sales. Open mouth

    If the trial is valid and you havent used before then it will work for 30 days with all features.

    What is the actual issue though, sounds like either firewalls stopping access to azure from onsight and you have put a polling engine in the cloud to resolve it, but ports will still need to be opened for polling engine to connect back.
