Auto-Approve All updates for a specific 3rd party product using Patch Manager

I have the following use case:

I need to auto-publish all updates for a certain 3rd party product from Patch Manager to WSUS
I need to auto-approve all these specific 3rd party updates on my WSUS server

Now Item 1 I can accomplish using an auto-publishing rules within Solarwinds. How though to then acheive Item 2? I can of course script this with powershell but wondering if there is anything native in Soalrwinds Patch manager for this. The native WSUS auto-approval rule does not work it seems as 3rd party productsdon't show within the products list in that setup/config dialog :|

In Patch Manager when you build a package, you will define a Classification for that package. That might be "Critical Updates" or "Security Updates" or "Tools" or "Updates", etc...

Next when you take that package and Publish it into WSUS, as far as WSUS is concerned that is just one more update that showed up for WSUS to evaluate and it will apply any already-defined WSUS Automatic Approval Rules to that published 3rd party update - just like it would for Windows updates coming in from Microsoft.

So, if you assigned a Classification of "Tools" to your package and you don't have an Automatic Approval Rule for "Tools" then it won't be auto-approved at the time of publishing. But if you gave it a Classification of "Critical Updates" and you have an Automatic Approval Rule for that Classification, it would be auto-approved as soon as it is published.

Got ya! Clever idea. Unfortunately this would mena that other critical updates would also get approved which I don't want/need.

I think it is in roadmap (please see Schedule Approval section) but not supported on Patch Manager for now: thwack.solarwinds.com/.../wwwo
