Has anyone gotten Cisco NDP discovery working for IPv6?

We have a IPv6 lab up and running and trying to get IPAM (2024.1.0) to scan our 2 Cisco switches (3850 and 9300) using NDP.   The 2 switches are being monitored successfully via SNMP but NDP for IPv6 scanning does not work.  I am not able to connect to the MIB/OID for the following below.   Has anyone successfully got this working in their IPv6 environment?

"IPAM IPv6 address discovery is based on the NDP protocol and information is obtained from routers based on the following MIBs / OIDs:

IPv6 MIB, OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.55.1.12.1.2 (ipv6NetToMediaTablePhysicalAddress)
IP MIB, OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.35 (ipNetToPhysicalTable)
ipv6NetToMediaValid - 1.3.6.1.2.1.55.1.12.1.6
Cisco proprietary CISCO-IETF-IP-MIB , OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.1.3 (cInetNetToMediaTable)

  • I've had my ticket escalated all the way up to the IPAM developers and their response was that the routers/switches must support ALL of the OID's listed, otherwise your SOL. The problem with this answer is that after doing some research, these OID's seem to have been deprecated!  I find it hard to believe that Solarwinds developers are not working with Cisco to use latest IPV6 OIDs.

  • The historical track record is solarwinds devs don't even look at a feature until it becomes a dominant market force.  Considering ipv6 is still barely in use at any SMB (by far most SW customers are pretty small operations) you should not be surprised that IPAM hasn't caught up with it.  I don't ever recall seeing any mention of ipv6 in the IPAM GUI.

Also worth remembering that before SW added it to HCO IPAM was probably only running in <5% of customer environments, so you can imagine the amount of dev time it gets allocated.
