Solarwinds Additional Instance

Hello,

My company has recently purchased licensing for an additional Solarwinds instance with an EOC. Our environment is fairly large and our current instance has well over 100K elements and we were advised to split our environment by our Solarwinds account team. I'm having trouble finding documentation on how to set this up and would also like to hear from others with more than one Solarwinds instance. We are currently running NPM, NCM, NTA, SAM, SRM, VMAN, IPAM and VNQM on an environment with 1 primary poller, 7 additional pollers and 1 large DB.

Thanks,

MC

KMSigma we spoke briefly at MS Ignite 2017 in Orlando, FL and you showed interest in this scalability topic.

  • To be quite fair, the way that you choose to "segment" your network infrastructure is up to you and depends on WAN speeds and a bunch of other information.  Please direct message me with some breakdown on how your environment is setup (number of elements per site, WAN speeds between sites, placement of SQL server and/or clusters, and other stuff like that).

I'd be happy to take a THWACK at it to give you some recommendations.
