DRE Application error BASupSrvcCnfg.exe

After windows updates on 4/9/25 all of our desktops started getting pop-up boxes indicating there was an application error:

After turning in a ticket with SW we were told it is an issue with CrowdStrike and DRE after KB5055523 was installed as an update.

SW and CS are working on a resolution.

However, this problem causes the error to pop up every few minutes and annoys the hell out of our users.

The short-term solution is to edit your CrowdStrike Prevention Policy to turn off the "Detect on Write" feature.

Or, create a new host group with a new policy minus the Detect on Write option and move your affected PC's to the corresponding host group.  Make sure the group has a higher precedence to it applies properly.

The hosts need to be rebooted after the policy is applied to it.

Hope this helps someone not waste a day off like me.

  • As an update to this, CrowdStrike issued a warning yesterday about 32bit legacy apps being affected by CrowdStrike after the KB5055523 update taken on Windows 11 24H2 machines. For DRE, they suggest leaving "Detect on Write" enabled and create 7 Sensor Visibility Exclusions as follows:

    **\BASEClient.exe

    **\BASupApp.exe

    **\BASupSrvcEvnt.dll

    **\BASupTSHelper.exe

    **\BASupSrvc.exe

    **\BASupSrvcUpdater.exe

    **\BASupSrvcCnfg.exe

Apply these to all hosts or the affected Host Group(s) in CrowdStrike. CrowdStrike will be fixing the issue in a new release. Since a lot of us are N-1 for updates, we probably won't see it for a while.

    Thanks,
