Schedule Play Times in WPM

Hello, we thought it would be very useful to be able to schedule our transactions play times.  This would help us keep the load down both on Orion and the applications themselves.  For example, we monitor a number of individual web servers as well as the web site as a whole.  This gives us a quick alert if there is a problem with any of the servers for our mission critical applications.  I've spaced them out manually by using the Play Now function but it is not very accurate.  It would be nice if we could create a schedule to run them on like this:

x = hour

Transaction1 runs every 5 minutes at x:00 and x:05.
Transaction2 runs every 5 minutes at x:01 and x:06.

Transaction3 runs every 5 minutes at x:02 and x:07.

Transaction4 runs every 5 minutes at x:03 and x:08.

Transaction5 runs every 5 minutes at x:04 and x:09.

  • It seems that we've misunderstood each other. What I meant was to use Unmanage Scheduling Utility, which can be found in Start Menu in All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Unmanage Scheduling Utility.

    You can use this tool to create an unmanage task which can be then scheduled for execution using the Windows Task Scheduler. You can find more information about how to use this tool in the following blog post , the post is little bit older so some information may not be relevant anymore. But it should give you a rough idea how to use this tool.

    Let me know if you have any questions.

  • ok...this will work.  Any plan to move this capability into the Orion web site so these can be configured there instead of from the Orion server?

  • Hi Joe,

    we are now collecting feedback from users about this and I consider this Idea submitted by Thomas (tweeksugl) as a request for web site integration, not the functionality itself, since the functionality is there, you just need to use the process described by Lukas.
